This was a super fun, super light book that I was able to read in one day. Sophie Kinsella's books are always fun and entertaining. This was no exception and probably is my favorite Sophie Kinsella book!

I read another of Kinsella’s books—I Owe You One—last year. It was light and mostly funny, a good break from the mystery and suspense I usually read, so I decided to read another.

This one was better than the other one. I liked the narrator more, though I still didn’t exactly relate to her. (There does seem to be a trend in the author making her lead females pushovers who learn to stand up for themselves.) I did like the relationship between Sam and Poppy and I enjoyed seeing it grow. That was the best part of the book.

The only issues I had were with the relatively thin plot (she can’t get a different phone why?) and with some of the decisions Poppy makes at the end that I felt didn’t live up to her character. I see why the author ended it like she did, but I was bit like “really?” when it started heading down that road.

I will probably read another of hers. Probably not the shopaholic series because I can only go so far with characters I can’t relate too. And I hate shopping.

I gave up on the Shopaholic series but I rather liked "Can You Keep A Secret", so I tried this one out. Not bad. The girl was a bit of a ditz and made a muck out of the cold hero's life (as usual), but at least she wasn't as irritating as the Shopaholic girl. She came across as earnest and good-hearted, but just a bit of a doormat. The book was also able to pull off the texting thing. Who doesn't like getting a message on their phone that makes them smile and gives them the warm and fuzzies?

I was going through my list of books read in 2012, slowly starting to prepare my “Best of 2012″ list (one of my favorite time of the year on the blog!) when I realized I had yet to review some of my favorites this year. I’ve Got Your Number, read this past March, was one of those. I’m a long time fan of Sophie Kinsella. Even though I’ve grown a little tired of her Shopaholic series, her last two stand alone novels (this one and Twenties Girl) have been some of the most heartwarming books I got to read since I created the blog!

I’ll admit that I wasn’t expecting much when I started reading this one. The summary felt a little silly and predictable to me, but in the end, I should have trusted Kinsella to work her magic : the story was entertaining and fluffy and awww-worthy from the start.

Poppy and Sam had so much chemistry! It is quite obvious, even from the summary, to see where the story is going, but the author manages to make the book fun and charming all along. There’s no boring moment, and Sam and Poppy were so absolutely adorable together – whether they were arguing or having a nice sharing moment. The emails and text messages, which sometimes get intrusive in other novels, were nicely paced and added a touch of life to the story, making the characters even more relatable.

I also loved that there was more going on than a simple romance. We learn more about Sam’s business, while Poppy has to deal with finding her ring, dealing with the in-laws and getting everything ready for the wedding. This is not without a few surprises along the way, and the build up to the ending was simply exciting (oh, that scene in the woods!)

Even though I sometimes wanted to hit Poppy on the head with a huge, heavy cushion, it was impossible for me not to like her. As for Sam, he was really likable too, and I always appreciate how Kinsella writes charming yet realistic men. Sure, he has his secrets like everyone else, but he’s not the stereotypical “mysteriously broody man with a deep dark secret”. He’s quite regular, when you think of it, but his connection with Poppy is so perfect it makes them both extraordinary.

To say I absolutely adored this book would be an understatement! It’s one of these books where predictability is comfort, and it’s the way there that makes it all exciting. I absolutely loved it, and I can’t wait for the author’s next book! Fortunately I don’t have to wait much longer, and her next novel, The Wedding Night, should be available in May of 2013.

I like Kinsella characters because their specific brand of neuroticism makes me feel so normal. She's insane, your Honor, but, like, in a fun way.

this book is a relatively quick read, and is good if you need some lightheaded happy fluffy esc romance. however the story line made me cringe a lot, not in a bad way but sometimes i wanted to throw Poppy out the window but i also wanted to give her a hug at the same time- let’s just say my emotions were very up and down reading this hook, however i really enjoyed it and would definitely recommend:)

Poppy is a very messy main character and stirs up way too much trouble. Makes bad decisions and doesn’t see the impact they could have on other people, but somehow this story was still cute. Pictured the whole book as if I were watching a movie, which made it an easy read. I also really loved the male main character Sam!
