I LOVED this book; I love the jumps to the past and the present, learning more about the Riva family and how one person's decision can affect so many people. The fact it was set over one evening shows how fast a flame can engulf people in chaos which I loved. Each character was so complex and had its own story, which we as readers got to explore. This book is def one of my favs; I love the views on family and love it gave me, I love Taylor Jenkins Reid's books, and this one was amazing!

Phenomenal setting by the sea. Immaculate vibes and it made me nostalgic for times and places I haven’t been. Also, this line: “Because, just as it is in Malibu’s nature to burn, so it was one particular person’s nature to set fire and walk away.”. There was this impending sense of doom from the beginning, and I loved it. I just wanted the best for all the characters, except for the cheating tennis man whom we shall not name. Some of the POVs felt a little unnecessary towards the end but I guess they added some cool little details here and there. Overall just a really really good book.

This is another gem of Taylor Jenkins Reid pov: before reading the book you should read the 'Seven husband of Evelyn Hugo' and then agein My girl Taylor is a really good write. There's at least 1 character in this book which you will relate to it.

It was good but not amazing, a bit boring here and there, and confusing because there are so many characters from the start.

I think this book was pretty okay. I have to be honest, I enjoyed reading the flashbacks a lot and not so much the present until closer to the end. The characters were a bit hard to follow at first but I think it got better as I read. Definitely liked the premise but I think the ending came up a bit quick. Overall, pretty decent read.

This book was a solid 4 star but the last couple chapters really got me. I can relate to a shitty biological dad and reading about Nina becoming the pillar of the family and the immense weight of it, it just got me.
