I just finished this book at 1 am and I am not fine. Totally not fine. I strongly believe something inside me died during the course of reading this book. This was and probably will be the best book I‘ve ever read. Can you believe I originally never wanted to pick it up because I thought I don’t like literary fiction that much and it’s probably just overrated?!! It‘s not!!! If anything, not enough people have read it yet, because it‘s the greatest thing ever and such an important story to tell. Her take on bisexuality, journalism, lies and facts and life in the spotlight?! Too good and too important I loved every second of it. I want to reread right now like I read the last line (which was ICONIC to say the least) and I could have immediately started with the first line again and I am still really tempted to. Wow just wow.

This book has a slow start but picks up, and doesn’t slow down! There’s so many phases of this book and I loved the progression and final connections!

I felt the story dragged out a bit which made it very difficult to finish it. Towards the end I had the 'I just want to get it over and done with attitude' which is not what you want - you want to be engaged by the story. The writing was lackluster which made it hard to engage with.

However, there was one thing I liked: Evelyn and Harry’s friendship. It was so pure, especially during the time they raised their daughter together. I also liked how they portrayed people have to sacrifice or protect yourself due to fame i.e. not being able to come out as bisexual during a homophobic society.

Some issues with this book such as
Spoiler Célia’s biphobia that isn’t treated as such in the book and is instead treated as a fair reaction. I also find it ridiculous that you would have an actress jealous of another actress filming a sex scene. That makes no sense for an actor and Celia was supposed to be a good one
. I also don’t find the final plot twist to be shocking or as big a deal as the book makes it out to be, so it just falls flat. But I loved the story, it was engrossing and exciting and had me not wanting to put the book down. I also must say I have learned some life lessons from Evelyn. A great read, all in all.
