Great book. I really enjoyed hearing about the things he went through in Russia along with learning about fish owls.

A really fun and interesting read! I learned a lot about a species I’d never heard of before.

Another reviewer describes this book perfectly "It is a book about academics that study nature." and I think that's why I enjoyed it more than some others. Set your expectations, do not expect to learn all about Fish Owls in this book, after all the title states "A quest to find and save..."
If you have done field work, you'll probably really enjoy this. It reads as a really well put together field note/diary, which can be exciting. If you want to learn about Fish Owls, you will not enjoy this, and just either do not pick it up, or skip to the very end.
