A Willing Murder by Jude Deveraux

Meh. With Devereaux I at least expected a good romance, but this story didn’t even have one of those. I never understood why the male lead had to be on crutches. That was weird. It made him strangely weak for most of the book. Also, if he is still injured from a car wreck where his brother passed away, I’m pretty sure he would be experiencing a lot more grief and a lot less detective work. I’m not sure why she made him have that experience at all. It could have just been a car wreck. Weirdly poorly planned book.

I figured this out early on, including the connection between Cheryl and her father and the boyfriend. It wasn't disguised too carefully, and was easy to deduce. There was a red herring or two thrown in to make you question your theory, but it was still evident.
Usually, I really enjoy Jude Deveraux's witty and funny prose, but in this book, it didn't hold the same pleasure. I was actually a little disappointed.
Hopefully, the next book in the series of these amateur sleuths will be more enjoyable for me.

This makes me miss the Jude Devereaux books of old. The plot and syntax of her more recent books are all the same. I finished it because I hate not finishing books and she was one of my all-time favorite authors (particularly her older books). Fairly disappointed in how unspecial and predictable this book was.

A nice light read.

Not mushy. My grandmother introduced me to Devereaux years ago. I haven't read and since she died. This was a nice reintroduction. My Nanny would have enjoyed it.

I have no idea why this book has this title. I enjoyed the story immensely. I thought 23 was a bit young for our main character to be - she seemed to have more life experience than I would expect from most 23 year olds. HOWEVER, the characters were so fun! I thought the narrator did a great job bringing them all to life and I enjoyed the small town cast of characters.

4 stars. First in a series from a new-to-me author. I read this in a day and enjoyed it even though the mystery wasn't difficult. Interesting characters, great town, yes a few moments where suspension of disbelief is worn rather thin (mostly to do with what law enforcement really would do as opposed to novel version), but quite a good read.

Something a little different from Jude Deveraux. While I adore all of her romance books this mystery didn't catch my attention as much. It was an enjoyable easy read but just didn't hit my buttons

I knew I had to read this book when I saw who wrote it!
Omg! I was so excited. It had me guessing who the murderer was up until the...second page. Lol. Honestly, I'm pretty good at it. But it was still a delight to read, I can't wait to read the next book in the series..

Cute, fast-paced story. A few things bug me though. Why won't Kate speak up to her mother. Why won't Sara talk about her brother?
