Ugh. I was disgusted at the amount of promotion this book got. There are so many out there who have written about this demographic in literature, chick-lit, articles, online, etc. etc. in more realistic and far better detail. Plus some parts seemed completely made-up, presented under the guise of the author's "observations."

Nothing new here people! Go back and read "Bonfire of the Vanities," "The Nanny Diaries" or even "Momzillas."

I waited for this to come to 7-day-express loan at the library so I wouldn't have to pay for it!

This is a 2.5 that I don't recommend. I found it hard to get through at times.

I read enough of this book to know it's not for me. As noted in my last reading update, I got tired of reading about vapid women. My oldest son was in a private school from kindergarten through eighth grade and I had to deal with people who were just like the women mentioned in the book. I've had enough of THAT to last a lifetime.

Very interesting insight into the day to day lives and worries of those at the top of the world’s food chain, though a little repetitive in parts.

I found this book entertaining, and I enjoyed the author's attempts at framing life in the UES in anthropological terms. My favorite parts were the final chapters, as they further humanize the author and the women about whom she writes in a very touching and real way.

This was a fun read. I enjoyed it so much that I immediately started reading another book by her when I finished this one. It’s a nice form of infotainment that is probably particularly appealing to fans of shows about people living in the Upper East Side of NYC. Some of the chapters might be dated by now, e.g. the bits about SoulCycle and Barre, but it’s still a good read.

In Primates of Park Avenue, author Wednesday Martin takes an outsider-turned-insider look at the behaviors and societal norms of Upper East Side women (mostly mothers). At times hilarious, sad, and scientific, the book exposes the seedy (yet toned) underbelly of a small 1% population of women whose admittedly first world problems are just as real (and valid) as is the survival of primates in the jungle. The book is a fascinating and funny read, and will be enjoyed by fans of The Nanny Diaries, Sex and the City, and science.
