The exciting, true, adventure of a man walking the entire lengt of the Nile River. The feat he accomplished is an inspiration.

A nice memoir of a remarkable journey. I do hope you get a chance to come back and have another experience of Tanzania, my home for the past two years. For me it has been one of the most welcoming countries and people that I have ever encountered.

This was a fantastic book I just wanted more. I kind of felt like I was immediately thrown into a story without much lead up to it. At first, I thought I had accidentally skipped a couple of chapters. I will say it’s a moving story that has me wanting to learn more about African history & has made me realize how little I know about even recent & current events.

Great adventure and explanations of history and culture, but Wood has a very colonial mindset at times, so when he does venture into his thoughts about African politics and peoples, I stayed wary. Very fun read, especially the Ugandan bits, as I've traveled that country before and miss it dearly.

Having watched the Channel 4 documentary and then reading the novelisation of his journey, it's amazing to realise how much of Lev's struggles didn't make it to the screen, both mentally and physically dealing with governments and war.
