I'm a little torn between 3 stars and 4 stars because I thought the story was brilliant and I loved that it contained just the right amount of humor, and characters that are well thought-out, with complex attitudes and thoughts (going beyond what would seem at first like very cliché characters, actually). What didn't do it for me what the length and the repetition... I think this book could have kept its great story development, intrigue and amazing ending, all while being way shorter. So many parts of the book don't bring any new information to the reader and it left me thinking "can we get on with this?". I have to admit I even skimmed through some pages... which I always feel guilty about (especially when the story is actually good!).
I also love it when a work of fiction manages to shed some light on a very important issue and helps its readers build empathy for victims. There is incredible power in storytelling to make us all more aware and more compassionate; I think this book does exactly that, and does it in a very admirable way.
All in all, very good read! Though some lengthy bits could I been avoided, in my opinion, it's definitely worth it.

Sometimes I like watching a show before reading the book because it helps with visualization and I’m so glad I did for this one. I was able to picture the show characters so well in the book and it really added to the reading experience. I actually liked how the show depicted their complicated relationships with each other more, but I did appreciate being more in Celeste’s head about
the dv issues.

Wow, this book had me guessing for a long time. Expertly written, characters who are frustrating at best, monstrous at worst. I'll definitely be checking out other books by this author.

I really really enjoyed this one. I love when characters bounce off eachother and you see multiple perspectives without it getting confusing or boring and Liane Moriarty did it just right with this story.

I can't say much without spoiling the twist at the end but I genuinely didn't expect it and think it was a perfect conclusion to a shitty situation. Can't wait to watch the show now!

A very compelling read. I really enjoyed how well hidden the mystery remained for most of the book. I had a burning desire to flip to see what happened before I got there, but I managed to resist. Which was way better for the story development! I'll definitely be giving Liane's other books a read.

I'm also looking forward to seeing how the TV series brings to life the book - I hope it isn't odd being set in the US instead of Australia.
