This book ❤️ I feel like I can aptly say, I devoured it. I felt the female rage deeply, and though I am not a mother, I felt kinship with the mother, the Nightbitch.
The female experience of being defined by your ability to creat life, and thus being expected to do so, and to want to do so, to have certain dreams nullified in order to make life, is something, I think we all experience.
I feel for the Nightbitch, and hope to find my own mythical womanhood.

I am sure this book would have hit even harder and deeper, had I been a mother. Everyone should read it. It is surely on the feminist doctrine.

gripping, weird, enraging. laughed out loud at parts, cringed away at others. lots of emotion, ending didn’t catch me.

magical realism about a mother turning into a dog, with no bite. Rachel Yoder is definitely a talented writer, and this book had beautiful and funny and fun-to-read parts, but the sweeping moments of thematic bravado didn't connect to something impactful for me

Nightbitch itself is an art piece. This book was absolutely excellent. Purely encompassing the struggle between being prim and proper, and feeling like a feral animal. Following the story of this mother felt so intimate. Yoder's writing style allows the reader to truly feel a part of her character's heads, without forcing you into a jarring first person perspective. A book for horror fans, art fans, and mothers. I went into this book with the expectation of it being similar to The Yellow Wallpaper, but I was so pleasantly surprised to find that it surpassed the quality of even that classic.

Nightbitch took me around 4 hours to read.

Not for me? I expected edge but not this much abstraction. Dark and strange, but the end has a sense of completion. Audiobook was well done.
