Royalty, siblings guardian, small town, hallmark movie vibes, trauma bond a bit

I really liked it, gave total movie vibes. She’s a college student at NYU then her parents are murdered so she moves back to her hometown to take care of her 5 siblings. He is a prince from Sweden, his brother had just died so now he is the new heir and is having a had time dealing with it all and grieving. So his parents give him a month in America to have a break since no one will recognize him. On his last week his car breaks down near the town and she checks into the hotel where is works and starts their whirlwind romance.

Sweet and smexy story about a housekeeper and a prince, sorta like Cinderella but without the evil stepmother and stepsisters. The author’s take on the story was lots more fun because the housekeeper has five siblings and they are all adorable.

Maggie McPherson was studying journalism in New York. She escaped her little town of Tehachapi, California as soon as she could. She loves her new life in New York even if finding boyfriends is difficult. She misses her parents and siblings, like an ache in her heart, but she was done with the little town. Until one day when she was hanging out with her girlfriend Sam and she got the phone call from hell. Her parents were murdered at home.

Fast forward one year, and Maggie is surviving. She took over her mother’s job as housekeeper in the town’s sole hotel, and with her brother Pike, who is the next oldest, she’s managing their household and siblings as best she can. She was their legal guardian and had to step into her parent’s place so fast, she hardly had time to grieve. Her brother Pike is helpful, the eleven-year old twins are also helpful. But her fourteen sister April is in the hormonal throes of teenage doom and is giving her a hard time. Likewise, the youngest, Callum, at seven years old, is a holy terror but so cute, inquisitive, innocent, and smiley that it’s hard to get angry at him. Throughout the book, a frequent phrase is : shut up Callum.

On the other side of the world, Prince Viktor of Sweden is having a meltdown. His brother, the Crown Prince, died a month ago, and now he’s being groomed for the position of Crown Prince. After a lifetime of being the spare prince, he’s enjoyed a lot of freedom. Now, he’s required to attend numerous meetings, galas, dinners, etc., under the watchful eye of the world and worse, the press. He hasn’t had time to process the pain of losing his brother and is succumbing under the pressure of his pain and the obligations of his new position. His parents gave him a month of vacation and send him undercover to the United States with instructions to get his head right and get ready to step into his assigned role. Passing through town, he meets Maggie when she entered his hotel room and found him strolling the room stark naked; later on she found him conked out at a bar, totally unconscious. She took him home because it would look bad to take him to the hotel, and the morning after situation was a riot. Imagine waking up with a hangover and facing three inquisitive kids and a suspicious older brother.

The next parts are sweet, funny, and sexy. Viktor finds himself enchanted with this beautiful, strong girl who in the midst of hard times, rises up to the challenge and does the best she can. She inspires him, made him fall for her. His challenge is coming clean about who he is and find out how he can carry out a long-distance with his beauty who can’t leave her job or her siblings.

I found the first part a normal love story, not very mesmerizing. However, the second part of the book, where Viktor and Maggie have a lot of obstacles to overcome, got very interesting. I love angst in my stories! The parts where the Crown Prince of Finland, Magnus, are hugely entertaining.

Oh my heart, ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️........ Viktor and Maggie, 😍.

Maggie had her world turned upside down at 23. She gave up everything to do what was right. She became the legal guardian of her siblings and made things work. Working as a housekeeper at a hotel she walked in to clean one of the rooms and meets Viktor who was completely naked. She had no idea who he was and he never revealed who he was either. Later on at night something happens and she comes to his rescue.

Viktor was intrigued and smitten with the beautiful housekeeper that walked in on him naked but it didn’t bother him. When she came to his rescue later on he realized that he needed to find out more about this beautiful girl while hiding his identity. Things were going smoothly and beautiful until Maggie found out his true identity. Viktor was hesitant at first but a love story developed.

Maggie and Viktor were in their bubble along with the approval of her siblings. Maggie was strong and Viktor was protective but their love was beautiful. There was a rough patch which was sad but it was resolved without the typical drama.

Maggie and Viktor had so much in common regardless of coming from two different backgrounds but they never let that interfere in their relationship. I loved this story and I wish there was more on them. I would love a part two on these two and of course her siblings.

The Swedish Prince

4.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Karina Halle always has an interesting story to tell and this one is no except. She brings together two people who are facing tragedies and trying to make there way through them and along the way they find one another. I love that this book takes it’s time also, they don’t rush everything and pretend that it all works out. They both have to come to terms what their lives are changing into and have to make decisions apart before they can make them together.
Vicktor and Maggie will be faced with more challenges once they are together but will they be able to face them together or will they give up there chance of a new beginning together.

Ok until the 50% mark, then it becomes super repetitive and the only thing that saves it is Magnus.

*I might actually pick up Magnus' book*

Just a few notes tho:
-"decadence, sugar and cinnamon" is not a good smell to have on a daily basis, if you smell like this please go see a doctor;
-do not, under any circumstances, eat something off of someone if you don't know for a fact they just showered (I mean, you do you but be careful);
-don't quit your job for someone you've known for *a week* and exchanged a few letters with.

When I finished this book.... 4 months ago (omg I'm so late on writing my reviews), I gave this book 3.5 stars, but honestly the more I think about, the more I dislike it. It is... okay, but ended up really not being for me. I should have DNF'd it, but I was holding out hope and needed a royalty book for a challenge.
The romance was... weird. I don't know, I read such a wide variety of romance and relationships types, so I don't always feel confident saying something feels off because sometimes the same scenario in a different book wouldn't feel weird to me. So, I can't say I'm an expert.... but, there are a lot of weird and not-romantic lines present toted as romantic meaning I couldn't like the main couple. If you can't like the main couple in a romance book, it is a problem.

So, I'll just keep it at 3 stars *shrugs*.

3 stelle!

Romance con royals, prince/commoner.

Il libro inizia molto bene, ma poi non mi ha convinto una scelta presa dalla scrittrice. Da quel momento ho un po' perso interesse e la storia ha cominciato a sembrarmi inutilmente lunga.
