If you're looking for an amazing book you can't go wrong. Colleen does it again. I will never look at Pine-Sol again and not chuckle.

I didn’t love it. Ridge gave me abusive vibes multiple times. Cheating not cool. I don’t know just didn’t work for me but good to listen to easy and interesting.

This book was fast paced but, I found myself wanting more to the story. Sydney found herself in a broken relationship after her boyfriend and best friend snuck around cheating. She randomly moves in with people she’s never known before. Quickly found herself some new friendships and a new hobby! Ridge invites her to write lyrics to his songs while he’s uninspired in a writing slump. Their friendship gets very close…closer than they ever thought. It messes up everything. Can they fix things? What will happen to the band? The music? Will they ever speak again? With some help from Warren they find their way back to each other and work through the mess from the last few months!

GOOD!!!!!
This book was really good! I feel like I learned a lot with Ridge being deaf. I went from liking Ridge, to disliking him, to being fascinated by him. His way of “hearing” things was so beautiful. And giving earplugs to Sydney so she could experience what he did brought tears to my eyes. I don’t want to give too much away but what a great storyline! I’ve loved everything I’ve read by CoHo and this one didn’t disappoint.

CoHo's stories never cease to amaze me. She takes the most unexpected of subjects and turns them into truly beautiful stories of friendship & love.Her characters are so perfectly genuine that a reader cannot help but feel for them. Add in the musical component, the original book soundtrack, and we have a glimpse of brilliance.Griffin Peterson has an amazing voice and his songs/performance is perfect. Maybe Someday is a must read and a must listen to.

This book made no sense to me. Like. It's literally about a giant jerkface cheating on his girlfriend (whom he's emotionally manipulating in the first place) and trying to justify it to himself and a hypocritical woman complaining about how her hypocrisy isn't her fault, 'cause he's, like, totes hot.
And it wasn't even interesting. You know what would have been interesting? The entire book written from Maggie's point of view. Maggie who is actually an interesting character. Maggie who is not so one-dimensional I want to cry. Maggie who is probably the only character in the entire book who isn't a complete asshole.
Even Warren the Misogynist and Bridgette the Walking Stereotype were more interesting than Ridge and Sydney's "Oh, I'm not a terrible person! Being a total hypocrite/emotional abuser isn't a bad thing at all! I'm perfect the way I am! Woe is me!" bit.
Here's the part where I'm gonna go on a giant rant about how much I hate Ridge:
-Let's get this straight. I don't hate Ridge solely because he cheated on Maggie. Cheating can be forgiven with the right amount of grovelling. I hated Ridge from his second scene in the book. And here's why: "I kind of wish she was feeling a little sick right now, so I could make her stay in bed with me." This is literally 4% into the book. I'm not gonna lie, I went into this book already knowing So seeing this line, where Ridge wishes that his girlfriend could be ill so that he could get his dick taken care of was the point where I knew I was going to hate him, and the book itself by extension. At 4% in.
-Ridge being heralded in this book's fandom (and occasionally in the book itself) because he's Deaf. Deaf people are not puppies. They're people.
-"You need to stop being so hell-bent and determined to have your independence." and "It'll be my own fault for allowing you to continue to refuse my help." WHAT THE HECK, RIDGE?! ARE YOU LITERALLY A TIME TRAVELER FROM THE 15TH CENTURY? SHE IS NOT YOUR PROPERTY. YOU DO NOT OWN HER OR HER ACTIONS.
-"She can be heartbroken She can even be pissed or terrified, but the one thing I won't let her be is okay." Goooood, this line sums up Ridge so much. He literally sees nothing in Maggie except someone he can coddle and treat like a child.
-
-He seems to have issues with consent. That quote up there is not the last time he tries to refuse to let someone leave his bed because he's horny.
More Things I Hated:
-"Am I ready for this guy to be the guy I bring dinner to every night when he gets home from work?" WHAT DECADE DO YOU LIVE IN, SYDNEY?!?! I KNOW TEXAS IS BACKWARD, BUT I DIDN'T REALIZE IT WAS STILL THE '50s THERE!
-The "raging alcoholic" jokes. You know what's not funny? Alcoholism. Ever.
-"We made out. I wasn't into it and it was really gross, but I was seventeen and curious." Lady kisses are gross. Original.
-WHY WOULD SYDNEY WANT TO BE WITH SOMEONE WHO MAKES HER CRY ON EVERY OTHER PAGE?
-And the slurs! THE SLURS! Can we go one page without calling someone a b*tch, a wh*re, a sl*t, or ps*cho?!?! NO! APPARENTLY WE CAN'T! There are seven slurs in the prologue alone. The PROLOGUE.
-Sydney blaming herself for Ridge's faults.
-Warren blaming Sydney for Ridge's faults.
-Ridge blaming Sydney for his own faults.
-Sydney blaming Maggie for Ridge's faults.
-Ridge blaming his computer for his own faults.
-The jokes about trans women.
-"I remain completely motionless as two huge tears spill from my eyes, scarring their way down my cheeks in a trail of shame." This is one of the worst sentences I've ever read. I made a note of it just for that reason.
-Hey, Warren and Ridge, guess what: You can't call dibs on a person.
-The entirety of the plot after 86% was completely unnecessary. I was seriously like "Wow, this is the end already? What's the next 14%? Previews for another book?" NOPE. Unnecessary extension of plot.
-Every single time one of the characters thinks the words "maybe someday" it's italicized. It's totally distracting. It really takes you out of the story.
I've read in several reviews that this is the worst of Hoover's books. I certainly hope so, because I already bought Slammed.
I would give this 0 stars if Goodreads would let me, but it won't, so I'll pretend the 1 star is Maggie, my life, my love, my shining star, who wasted 5 years of her life on a giant asshole. She will never get those years back. Let us mourn for her.
