I didn't think I would like this book better than twisted love, but I do. I actually love the storyline. It was only predictable to a certain point and I like that you start reading it and already know some of the things happening because of the first book.
You should definitely read these in order btw because otherwise you'll get mayor spoilers or some things won't really make sense.

More detailed opinions on some things, which may contain SPOILERS

I like Rhys Larsen. He is strong and stiff and masculine on the outside but Bridget turns out to be his soft spot. Unlike Alex from twisted love, he understands that boundaries are not meant to be overstepped... Which makes him more likeable in my eyes. Still posessive, but nothing too crazy. (He's still her bodyguard though)

I liked that there was more smut than in the first one. However, the tension between them is sometimes a bit too sexual and too little romantic.
For the first chapters, the tension is described as exclusively sexual. You later on understand that it is more than that. Especially with the trip to Costa Rica. But after that, the intimate moments between them could've been more focused on love imo. Every time they had a moment alone after Costa Rica, they immediately fucked. Like yea, of course I get the taboo and the tension and the longing.
But a bit more romance would've made it more convincing.
Especially since they get married fairly quickly after everything.

I also would've liked some dominance or sass from the otherwise completely submissive Bridget in the bedroom, but that's just personal preference.

The reveal who the videotape and pictures were from in the end was almost kind of... irrelevant..? Because noone cared about these two characters anyway. (or is that just me?) But I guess it was a necessary tenseness throughout the book.

Something I didn't see get mentioned by other reviewers was the Andreas character arc. Which I loved! He has never done anything really bad but was portrayed as this douchebag that you didn't really expect him to be kinda wholesome in a funny and annoying kind of way. To his brother in particular.

Had fun reading, would recommend. :)

This is a spicy, reverse fairy tale, bodyguard romance. I really loved this one, not only is it romantic, but a secret love affair is always sooooo good.

just finished to read it and i miss them already 😭.
Bridget and Rhys will always have a place in my bookish heart.
i love that they found a way out of the society- and parliament-imposed rules, and that after a long and troubled history (both individual and shared) they finally had their - may i add, much deserved - happy ending. ❤️‍🩹
