Very quick, engaging read.
Laura left her previous identity behind - but her past is coming for her!
On the way home from the grocery store, the radio station news provides an update for recent remains found on a famous Canadian hiking trail. Believed to be those of the young hiker, Seraphine Cunningham. The man charged with Sera's murder - had been released months earlier after a successful appeal. And he's coming for Laura.
The hike in 1999 starts out uneventful - Maisie finds friends to hike with, a possible romantic interlude. But why does Sera end up missing, presumed dead?
Lovely twists, great writing.

Overview: This is a short and thrilling read. I was instantly absorbed in the story of a missing hiker and enjoy the back and forth in time POV. At first I thought it a fairly predictable read, but then...oh boy. I do love it when I'm proven wrong. I did find Laura a bit...meh, but I enjoyed her story and how it developed towards the end.
Good points: I liked the newspaper articles dotted throughout the book. It was a clever way of adding a new perspective to the plot. The chapters were nice and short and the writing easy to read. Nothing too overly complicated either. It all fit nicely together at the end and provided me with some shocking twists.
Not so good points: Nothing major at all. Overall it was a great read. I mean none of the characters were particularly likeable, but they didn't detract from the story.
I thoroughly enjoyed this short and shocking read and look forward to reading more books by this author.
