Well once again the action never lets up in this fifth book of the Weather Warden series. Joanne is caught in the middle of a Djinn civil war and a sudden imbalance in the earth’s symbiotic relationship with mankind; consequences of thousands of years of meddling by the Warden organization. But she is the kind of girl to never say die as she once again refuses to walk away, back down and/or point the blame at anyone else. This was one hell of a ride and once again the ending leads us kicking and screaming straight into book 6!!

I read this series as it came out, and loved them, Im just rereading them now, and I'm unfortunately finding myself getting really annoyed. Everyone is so damned irritating and confused, one minute they're all fine and happy with each other, next minute shes being accused of everything under the sun and being locked up. And she seems ok with it all? Every time some one is a complete unreasonable asshole to her, she ends up just forgetting about it. Paul drives me nuts and made me wonder if he had a spilt personality disorder. Don't even get me started on Kevin. Oddly enough, I still don't mind these books haha.

This book felt like 2 steps forward and 1 step back. It was intense in a good way and we learned a lot.

But it was a long one.
Spoiler Ok so the earth is waking up. The Djinn’s are no longer slaves to the Wardens any more so now they are revolting causing death. No one wants the earth to wake up because that will mean the end of the world as they know it. But the Djinn’s don’t really care if the humans die. The Wardens do or at least most of them.

Its a cluster fuck for sure. Johnathan is gone. David is all powerful but he is connected to the earth so when she gets unsettled he is unpredictable. Their daughter is incredible, she is part Djinn and whatever Joanne is. I say that because I think she is more than Warden, she has, what died twice? I think she still has some Djinn in her but that is just my thoughts.

So yeah a lot going on and I know I just gave a bunch of spoilers but its hard not to when the book is this intense!

Book 6 is going to be a ride.

Putting aside the personal chaos that has plagued her, rogue Weather Warden Joanne Baldwin must rally the remnants of the Weather Warden corps against a double threat-the Djinn who have broken free from Warden control, and a cranky Mother Earth who's about to unleash her full fury against the entire world.

This series has gotten better with every book. I really like her relationships with David and Lewis. Where that's going is anyones guess.

All the characters in this series are done well, mains and secondaries as is the world she's built. Only two more and I'm at the end of this series and have to wait for more. Hate that.

I love the Weather Wardens, and its spin-off series Outcast Season, and highly recommend both to UF fans! One of these days I'm going to read the books in order, but for now I'm catching up on the last two book I missed (the other is [b:Thin Air|28650|Thin Air (Weather Warden, #6)|Rachel Caine|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1388716987l/28650._SY75_.jpg|29165]).

Caine's writing is amazing! It's like no time has passed even though it's been ages since I've last read the series, and you drop right back into Jo's crazy, dangerous, fascinating world.

This time around, she's dealing with her new half-human, half-Djinn, fully-grown daughter Imara, but the two get very little time together.

Mother Earth is just starting to wake up and has forced the Djinn to do her bidding, cleansing the planet of its blight, humanity.

Jo's life is always a rollercoaster ride of one deadly weather event and narrow escape after another, but this time she's at her wit's end.

David has been captured by Ashan, who also takes Imara, and with the Wardens decimated by Djinn battles, she's truly on her own.

Desperate to stop the Mother, Jo journeys to plead the case for humanity's continued existence with the three Djinn Oracles - only to find them infected by Demon marks.

A pulse-pounding, emotional adventure!

Okay these books are starting to turn downright soapy but like any crack I can't put it down. Thankfully, this one is better than the last but still not on par with the first part. This book has issues but let's face it if you've read this far into the series you've probably become invested in the characters enough to let the fact that Joanne suddenly knows something only a dead character said in a side narrative in the last book. Joanne is kind of a special snowflake but she's still got enough flaws to get her in a whole bunch of trouble and watching her get out of messes is why we keep reading right?

Joanne Baldwin does not have an easy life. She's no longer a weather warden, but trouble keeps finding her. The Earth is going nuts, with out of control weather systems, eartquakes and forest fires. Apparently Mother Nature has decided that humans are a plague and she is going to eradicate them. The truth proves to be far more complex than even that.

Joanne's also a mother . . . of a full-grown half-djinn/half-human daughter who is two days old. Her lover (and father of her child, David) has gone insane, along with the rest of the free djinn. Weather Wardens are dying by the hundreds as the djinn turn on their former masters. Meanwhile, Ashan, leader of the elder djinn is out to kill Joanne. Oh, yeah, and her sister is still in the clutches of Eamond who wants Joanne to get him a djinn.

Joanne is having herregular crappy day.

Rachel Cain has created a great story that keeps you turning pages and guessing what is going to happen next.

Really enjoyed this series! The Weather Warden series is one of my favorite series and Joanne & David are one of my favorite couples ♥
