I have a lot to say about this

Even tho the first 50-60 pages were a bit boring and i was soo close to dnfing it, i decided to listen to my playlists while reading and it worked i got through the 60 pages fast

After that, it got soo much better and was soo intrigued to see where is this book going and no page was boring, things just kept happening. I’m surprised i understood the concept bc i felt intimidated bc it’s a fantasy book but i understood the concept, the world and everything

The only characters i like are Jude and Carden and maybe Jude’s older sister and Oak too, i disliked everyone else but i hope i like them in the other books but overall i love how the book went and where it ended!

Okay I’m done and i can’t wait to read the other books:)

3.5 overall

Pre-chapter 18 the book is a solid 2.5 and post chapter 18 the book is 4 stars so I choosing middle ground and giving it 3.5 stars.

I really wish the set up for everything wasn't so boring and tedious to me.

the second half of this book is exquisite tho like truly had me on my toes even when i didnt care much about these people.

i didn't think i would want to read the second book but i may have to give it a try

Considering the amount of attention this gets—the videos, the posts, the fan arts, the love—especially around Jude and Cardan...

That's it? THIS IS THEM?! 😮‍💨 Nope. I'm sorry, no.

* S I G H *

While The Cruel Prince kicked off on an interesting note, the only other time I was "excited" and entertained was when other people were getting murdered... and that was probably a totally of 3 pages, I don't even know 🫠

I completely get that this is a YA book but comparing it to Cassandra Clare—the author of dedication—and her entire Shadowhunter Series, this was just blegh... idk if bleghconveys my feelings rn but TCP was just very disappointing.

* S I G H *

In one sentence: the entire book felt extremely surface level 😶

imo characters throughout TCP were described in certain ways that never got any development nor "their moment to shine" and there were a number of scenes that offered no weight to the greater plot (i.e. the mall / most classes excluding the star gazing one) annnnd tbh I finished this six days ago and I'm still mad about the entire thing... 🙃

BUT book club has assured me that the series gets better so fingers crossed 🤞🏻 o sí no 🔪
