the pacing felt a bit slow at times, and sometimes the characters felt a bit unbelievable. the plot twist near the end though… ok, i won’t spoil it, but i’m glad i decided to finish this book to the end. will i read the second book in the series? i don’t know yet.

So many holes, not great world building. There are better books out there.
It’s a Rapunzel Twilight mash-up with a plot like All of Us Villains.
Can we please stop writing teens falling in love with 500 year old men? Why is that the fantasy? Whose fantasy is that?

"The temptress and the ruler of darkness. A winning pair."

༉‧₊˚.my thoughts!
i don’t think this book deserved all the hate it got. don't get me wrong, it wasn’t the best thing i’ve ever read but it wasn't nearly as bad as everyone says. it was a mediocre book. the writing was quite bad (i'll get to that later) but the idea was fun. i was expecting more action and fighting, the book was very boring until the very end when she threw too many plot twists at us. i wasn’t interested in the book until it was almost over, the last 100 pages were how i wanted the whole book to be. the ending left me speechless, i had to stare at the ceiling for a couple of minutes to process one plot twist in particular.

༉‧₊˚.writing style!
the writing style was giving me a headache, i was not vibing with it at all. i don't even know how to explain it but it almost felt like reading a fairytale, i felt like the story was told to me, rather than shown and because of that i didn't feel any connection to the characters. this book is in 3rd person, which never bothered me before but at times it was difficult to tell who was speaking and i found myself having to go back and check. isla was driving me crazy with her questions. so overall if you’re looking for good writing , don’t read this.

༉‧₊˚.romance!
this part contains slight spoilers .ᐟ.ᐟ.ᐟ

isla+grim is the ONLY option. how is oro even an option when grim exists!!!
i'm so mad the author villainized grim, but i can't ignore the fact that his emo ass betrayed isla. i’m so upset about the ending, oro being in love with her was so random, where did that come from?
ngl i started this series because of a fanart but that scene wasn't even in this book, all that work and what did it get me😭 will i read the next book? yes, for grim, because they have to be endgame.
