Exactly why has it taken me so long to read this book? It was phenomenal. The emotion in this book; the longing and desperation and barely allowed hope the characters carried was so palpable. The showcasing of the resilience of the human spirit and all that entails is so well shown in this story. I am excited to continue this series and then maybe move on to other books by Claire Kent.

Also, I only casually watched parts of The Walking Dead and even then I could definitely see where this book was heavily inspired by that world, minus the zombies, and the fan ship of Daryl Dixon & Beth Greene. I much prefer this realistic take on a post apocalyptic world but I think fans of the show may enjoy this too.

This was everything I hoped it would be and more!
I’ve had my eye on Claire Kent novels for quite some time and finally bit the bullet.

The writing is perfection, and the story..THE STORY! I needed the tension and angst, and the raw emotion that this story pulled from me..I needed it all and it delivered!

If it the end of the world were near, I’d definitely want a Travis by my side too.

Something about post apocalyptic romance that just does it for me..and I’m so excited to read more from this author!

The book was nice I liked the story but I think the plot it self could’ve been much better. The romance wasn’t thattttt good either it was just nice.
an apocalypse and two people care for each other trying to survive

This book has been hyped for some time and it was a fun read. The first-person POV of the younger female lead knocks a half-star off for me because the inner monologue is not fully fleshed out or well-worded. I know that is because of the age and lack of experience, but I think this would have been a stronger story with Travis's POV.

Full Rating (out of 10 possible): 7.571 (based on a modified CAWPILE system)
Romance level (out of 5 possible): 3.5 (for on-page, intimacy scenes with some saucier details)

Originally DNF because “Too horny, and smelly”. Honestly the writing is really poor too. HOWEVER, I ended up finishing it because it was easy to breeze through. It was so bad and yet I wouldn’t be surprised if I read the other books in the series so idk
