Interesting to compare the book to the movie. I think this is one time when I prefer the film version to the paper one, if just because the move has a somewhat more optimistic ending than the book. Is that why critics were saying that the movie's ending was bad? I'm not sure, but I like the implications of the movie ending better. I also liked how the movie threw in a love interest- it sure amped up the tension. Perhaps because the movie had to be tidied it wraps things up better. Regardless, this is a good book, thrilling and full of possibility. It opens your mind a little just to contemplate what your mind might be capable of, and the consequences if it went wrong.

I loved it. Left some unanswered questions and I like that. I liked the character a lot and felt I could relate to him, other than the burnout, ex-drug addict part. :>) If you liked "The Constant Gardener" (John Le Carre') and "The Ghost" (Robert Harris), then you'll love "The Dark Fields" (or, as it's known in the movie world, "Limitless"). I'd like to find out which of these three was written first, but you would only understand why I want to know that if you read the book. I think the author must have spent time teaching English in Italy, just based on some of the references his character makes, which I found interesting for my own personal reasons. :>)

This book takes you on an interesting ride. The idea of a drug that enhances a person's cognitive function intrigues me. Having seen the movie years ago, this book was not quite what I expected. I enjoyed following Eddie through his experience with MDT. The end surprised me. I enjoyed the diverse characters that Eddie interacted with in this story. Watching him rise from a washed-out writer to a profiting day trader in so little time got me thinking about how much of our brains we don't use, and what life could possibly be like if we were able to use all of our brains on a daily basis.

Glad I listened to this audiobook.

I received this book through a goodreads giveaway under the title of Limitless.

The book itself sounded interesting and I was wondering how it would play out. It was really intense, an easy read, and kept you on your toes. There was only about one section that I felt slowed down and got a bit boring but as soon as I thought that, it picked right back up.

The ending was not all neat and tidy. It was not fully resolved. You can only guess as to what really happens.

I really enjoyed this book. I enjoyed the journey it took me on. I would definitely recommend this book to friends.

The concept of a drug that can make people better in every sense is amazing but probablamatic. Eddy's struggle with the drug and bring ordinary without it make the book. Sometimes Eddy's character is too smart and descriptions on things like the stock market can get heavy for the reader and slow the pace.

If you could take a pill that would double or triple your IQ, would you? I sure would! Even if I knew that as soon as the pills stopped, I could have mental issues? Or even die? Hmm, maybe not so much. Loved the movie, liked the book a lot. Some of the in-depth stock market and financial stuff in the middle made me eyes cross. Some of the stuff at the end of the book was a lot more realistic an outcome (or even why it happened in the first place). I think they complement each other quite well, though I'm glad I saw the movie first.
