A great exploration of our symbiotic relationship with the trillions of bacteria in and on us that outnumber our own cells.

This book improved my view of microbes a bit, but was still kind of gross. I think I had added it to my list in my general interest in improving one's immunity, but I think the field is still relatively 'unripe' and immature for me to walk away with anything to try. It sounds like there is still tremendous opportunity for research in this area. Now that I've finished it in this pandemic era, I can't help but wonder if all the disinfecting we're doing is causing harm we won't know about for a long time. I am astonished by the truth that some of the most powerful things in the universe are invisible.

This book is definitely for people who are interested in microbiology, but it doesn’t require you to be an expert to enjoy it.

I love books like this: digestible science. It’s the gateway drug to more immersive science books, which, from personal experience, I recommend.

This is not the first digestible science book I’ve read, but this was the most specific. But it’s also an incredibly thoughtful book on the nature of microbiology in relation to who we are as people.

Highly recommend.

Fascinating perspective on all those little microbes that live within us. The premise is that these microbes within us have a huge effect on who we are and our health. Microbes can survive anywhere on the plant and understanding their effects on us and our environments gives us the abiliy to improve our health and our planet. What is in our gut has far greater effect on us than we think possible.
