I loved this. I love the bdsm scenes so so much. This was some of the best sex scenes I've ever heard and I never once wished they'd be over faster.

I'm a sucker for the exact type of self doubt this has. I enjoyed this kind of second chance romance because it doesn't hinge on cheating or something so heinous that the MC absolutely should not take the love interest back. I also really enjoyed that Colt got to reunite with his family but it wasn't picture perfect and wrapped in a pretty bow. The whole endeavor was very realistic while still being a fictional happy ending.

I like Avery being a sort of nerdy more deserved University professor while also being a very firm dom.  It made for a really nice juxtaposition and characterization for him especially when contrasting with Colt being more impulsive and more go with the flow in a way that gets him in trouble more often. They play off each other really nicely and I really really love their relationship.

Hm, what to say. I loved seeing the ranch from the first book in this series again, and the characters that lived there. I liked the demi rep.The premise with Colt and Avery and their second-chance romance was interesting.  Colt and Avery talked out about their breakup and about trying something again, and I liked that, even if some of their talks felt stilted. They both over-shared their relationship and intimate dynamics with almost anyone, and that seemed odd.

There was a lot of back and forth between Colt and Avery. To be honest, I wish the romance between Colt and Avery had been more balanced, and I'm not talking about their sir/ pet BDSM dynamic. It confused me that Avery talked so much about the importance of trust in BDSM relationships, but then he was hesitant if he could trust Colt, and he didn't say a word about his hesitance to Colt, but kept on doing the scenes. It was as if trust only was expected to go one way. It felt like everything bad was blamed on Colt, also when Avery was just as responsible for their miscommunications or arguments. Colt was expected to prove himself to Avery while Avery didn't do half as much to prove himself to Colt. Colt had to be sorry and meet the consequences, while Avery never had to compromise or adjust to anything. That felt unfair and it ruined a lot of how I felt about this book.

I liked the scenes with Colt, Avery and their respective families, although some of their conversations seemed slightly unreal. The main problems were sort of wrapped up in a bow and seemed quite unrealistic. Still, this book was mostly an entertaining read. Might check out the next book.
