Loved it (no surprise to me as I loved the movie too.) So exciting, great characters and treatise on airports. The changes in air travel were amusing as it was written in the 70s. I liked the report-esque writing style too. Must go see about his other novels.

If you have seen the film Airport then this book is what was used to create that film, in the Book Lincoln International Airport has issues a trapped plane on the main runway and with it heavily snowning the Airport Manager Mel Bakersfield has a miriad of problems to solve.

Trying to get the runway emptied, has to deal with local protesters complaining about noise going over their houses.  And a stowaway and someone hell bent on taking his own life by taking a bomb on a overseas plane and to have it explode so his wife can get the insurance money.

I would of loved a better ending with some things just hinted at and not know for sure but the main problems were resolved.

I really liked the book Hotel of this writer and I hoped this book would be as good. It wasn't as fast paced and as much drama as I hoped. The story was outdated on some parts. Still an okay read.

Well this book surprised me. I picked it up in a second bookshop in Kuala Lumpur and then regretted the decision. However, once I started reading it I was really captured by the story. Yes, it’s dated and yes you have to get over the sexism that runs throughout the book. The story is good though. I couldn’t put down. True it’s not a classic, it’s formulaic but it kept me happily occupied for two days!

This work clearly shows the author knows how to write character; however, it is written with late-60s stereotypical male and female personalities. So far, while the plot line is intriguing and the details informative, it is just ok....But this book has some intriguing insight to offer on society, people, and airport operations. Makes me wonder how much things have really changed in the past 40 years.
