For all the hype, this book let me down. I felt like nothing at all happened in the first half of the book, then when it did, I was distracted by the ending, the way that Lisbeth was written, and the fact that there were a few parts of the book that I had hoped would tie into the ending, and didn’t. The  mystery was very interesting, but I was disappointed by the characters and ending.

Really mixed feelings about this one. The first half was mildly boring with all the business/ journalistic talk and i got so confused with all the maps and the goddamn family tree. The second half was more enjoyable to read and i like how Larsson explores the themes of ethics & morality and violence against women etc

A compelling and thrilling read, which I enjoyed immensely. My only complaint with it would be that there were times when this book felt very slow as it includes a lot of mundane details that are quite dry to read. Sometimes this was purposeful, where as others it felt like it could have been left out with no real loss. None the less I look forward to continuing on with the characters as they solve their next mystery in book 2.

Definitely mind the trigger warning though if it's something you're considering reading.

I really enjoyed watching the mystery of the book unfold but the ultimate conclusion fell flat for me. I loved the main characters and found them to be very interesting and compelling. However there were several moments in the book that were too sexually charged for me that made it uncomfortable to read. The writing itself was excellent and I was invested right up until the final reveal so I finished it but I will not be finishing the series.

I’m so glad I read this without having seen the movie & can’t wait to watch the film now. What an incredible story.

Starts a little slow - I wasn't as interested in the financial crimes portions, but others would likely find them more engaging. What I did love was the way Larsson wrote his leads. Many crime novels won't bother to flesh out their characters in favor of focusing on the mystery, but Mikael and Lisbeth were both layered, likeable in their own ways, and real. The mystery is also very well done - I had seen the movie a couple years prior, but still found myself second-guessing what I remembered. Enjoyable read :)

The first half of this book is quite slow and hard to get through, filled with infodump after infodump about a boring missing persons case that hasn't been solved for forty years. Once the halfway point is passed, it does start to pick up as we continue to learn more about a woman named Salander, who is a badass (though I dislike that the book refers to her as 'retarded' multiple times). One of my biggest gripes with this book is that I don't like the main characters, Mikael, much at all as he's a boring, flat middle aged man who every woman he meets wants to sleep with, for some reason. It would have been nice if this character had any personality or depth to him, but all he really does is go around sleeping with woman after woman. Will keep reading the series for Salander exclusively.

This book does also have various graphic scenes depicting very violent sexual assault, which I'm personally fine with but may be something other readers need to consider when going into this.

The premise of this book was really good at first it started off really slow I don’t think I would’ve picked this up if it wasn’t for a buddy read something to tick off my tbr really now!
I really enjoyed the concept on how dark and mysterious this was.

||The characters in this was good it did sort of grip you in ways trying to solve a missing person case moving to a new city can be quite daunting in one go.
At times this book turned out really slow and then fast in places where you can read a big chunk and then so little it was hard to process in times what was going on.😭
||
||I really enjoyed the dark and mysterious vibe for sure this would be a really good read to read in the dark for that sort of vibe I loved how it also had family complications whilst in the journalist system that was interesting to see.
||

||Lisbeth is literally queen in this book ! Such bad ass character gave no rats ass to get information she always speaks her mind even when people are in the wrong!
There was so many characters aswell mikael for example to say that he sounds like a dead beat father I still believe he still cares in heart even after having a love affair with someone else even if he was in the wrong doing that to his own family.||

||Erika: it took me a long while to get to understand Erika but she loves  her job with a passion and confident women in her work doesn’t take no for an answer||

The ending:
|| Im not sure how i likd the ending i get there was a. twist and turn with the father and harriet but overall i did like the whole story itself||
