this was very cute and uplifting, and could honestly stand completely alone. Adorable.

Loved the art, found some of the speech bubbles confusing, but overall, enjoyed it. This book 100% reads like a romance, but it isn’t, so that feels disappointing. I’ll never understand when authors write such romantic dialogue + have great chemistry and then just never do anything with it 💀

This was so good!!!

This resounded with me both musically and artistically. The main character, Taiyou, is trying his hardest to learn how to play the guitar. He got the inspiration from one of his fellow classmate, Hikari.

The depth and true feeling behind each of these panels just hit me so hard. All of the characters are richly fleshed out and they seem so lifelike. Ichigo Takano really knows how to both tell stories, but how to create real loveable characters.

I really love this book and the message it has for people. Cannot wait for book two!!

It really attempted to be heartfelt but gave you no reason to like or relate to the characters untill almost the very end. By the time I got to any reason to care about the characters I was already so annoyed with the writing that I just wanted the volume to be over with.

The story just jumps straight in with 0 history on the characters, why they feel the way they do or their relationships with each other. It just hopes you pick it us as you go (which is extremely easy to do but removes anything meaningful or compelling from the characters actions and relationships). This was so much so a problem that the author even included a bit where they just added a new character with no context and never gave context for them for laughs.

Also what the fuck was up with the evil kermit bit? That wasted so much time and page stace in every chapter for no reason but to annoy the hell out of me.

there was like this deep underlying sense of melancholy and sadness to this but i wasn't quite sure i grasped the meaning of the last chapter
we are thrown absolutely headfirst into these characters and the situation but it worked Taiyou saying "I wanna make music with you no matter what!!" to Hikari wow he's so Given coded that sounded like a proposal
Taiyou thinking "I know I was a pain in the ass. But I needed you. If possible,..I wanted to be your friend forever." yeah so it's shit like this that got me thinking some great tragedy is going to befall the characters (excluding what's already happened-Taiyou's injury and whatever happened to Hikari's hand)

Taiyou wants to play music, but his friends want to focus on school. When he discovers that Hikaru used to play, he tries convincing him to join in.
Hikaru has a clearly bad history, which is why he's so resistant. Taiyou has a very bright outlook, though, and keeps trying; he's also not afraid to try by himself, if it comes to it.
I don't mind either of the characters in this volume, though I didn't really grow attached to either of them. Then Taiyou has a girl friend that shows up, and she's sweet and supportive. There was no real romance hinted at here, though. Honestly, when I saw the book, I thought it might be leaning more in yaoi or shonen-ai territory. Maybe just a basic bromance or friendship story, though, is also possible.
This was a sweet volume, but it didn't really stand out to me. Honestly, I really liked orange, but then I didn't stick with her other series. I'm a bit iffy on this one.

Even though I hoped for a little more backstory for each of the characters, the story is still enjoyable. I loved Taiyou and his gentle, determined spirit. And even though not much is known about him, Hikari is also a character you can get attached to, if not due to his mysteriousness then to his eventual support of Taiyou and his aspirations. This is a friendly buddy novel focused on dreams and the journey to achieve them. I'm excited for the next volume, though I feel like there will be some sad, dark times ahead. It is Ichigo Takano after all.
