One should forgive but one should never forget.

I breezed through this because of how engaging the story was, but still found myself pausing to reflect on the weight of each scene. I love that Satrapi chose to tell the story through a graphic novel, I think it was the perfect literary medium. This book taught me a lot about a subject I knew almost nothing about. In between reading, I researched a lot about the Islamic revolution in Iran and subsequent revolutions in Middle Eastern and North African countries.
I love that this book tells the story of the revolution from a child’s POV; it really gives a sense of the terror, confusion and hopelessness that engulfs everyday life during a time of extreme political turmoil.

This was a great graphic novel about growing up in revolutionary Iran. Marjane learns to fit in, stand out, and stand up in a changing and repressive society. I'm using ideas from other teachers to make this into a unit for my middle schoolers, who can't find Iran on a map but know for sure that Iranians are all terrorists. Hoping to change that.

This book was extremely well put together, informative, and interesting. I completely could not put it down, and I’m very intrigued to see what happens in the sequel.

I saw the movie "Persepolis" when it came out in 2007, but am only just now getting around to reading the graphic novel. It's pretty much excellent.

My very first Iranian book with no expectation when I chose this book as my next read

and nope, nope, I don't regret every single bit of it.

The journey while reading this book has been a roller-coaster. A good kind twirl and God.... who would have thought that a comic/graphic book can make you laugh at her punk nike shoes, denim jacket to a girl who has sad stories too.

Definitely going to watch the movie and it is worth to reread this book.
