Enjoyable Tale

I started the story then put it down because the first few pages were kind of dark and this pandemic has me sad already. I picked it up a couple days later when I was in a better frame of mind then became completely wrapped up in the story.

Interesting and Intriguing

Enjoyed this book. Kept my interest I found myself trying to figure out the relationship of the characters before the author revealed it.

I LOVED this book. Everything about this book just worked for me. Great characters, very unexpected twists (at least for me. I absolutely did not see the resolution of all the loose ends being what it was). Little bit of fantasy wiry a little bit of supernatural (but not at all scary).
I fell asleep reading it most nights because I couldn’t put it down.
I look forward to more from Melissa Payne.

Started out kind of slow, but I still couldn’t put the book down - I wanted to know how all these “loose ends” connected. Cried through the entirety of the last 3-4 chapters

Took me FOREVER to finally pick this up

But I'm so glad I did. This book was tragic, mysterious, witchy . . . And I loved every minute of it.

Really interesting cause & effect plot and well played out supernatural mystery thriller. The narrator is a bit robotic but the story makes up for the narration quirks.

The twists are taut and maybe I was able to suspect the design but it still unfolded with a touch of the unknown.

The hardest part for me to connect in the story was the timeline - I felt the stretch of so many years from the first incident to the current incident was a bit too long to be functional. In the end, it didn't make a difference because it worked.

Parts were a bit wonky but I really enjoyed this debut book from a new author.

A sad, heartbreaking, gripping, hopeful story

The story is gripping and enchanting from the first page. I love the thought of lose ends being tied and the coincidences that can happen through each of our lives that can have lasting impact. There is also a great balance between the every day, the tragic, and the ghostly/ magical.

There's tons of suspense throughout the book and although I did figure out what would happen well before the end, it did not lesson my enjoyment of the execution of the story and the writing.
