While I enjoyed the overall story and the way the characters connected, I could have done without the paranormal elements. They added an unnecessary creep factor.
Jess, Star, and Ben are Lucy’s “loose ends.” Each character has experienced pain and loss. It didn’t take me long to figure out how they were connected and what role each played.
The writing and storytelling kept me engaged despite the creepy factor and the obvious plot twists.

I read this as part of a reading challenge to read a debut author and chose it randomly off of our shelf of newly published books. There were parts of the story that I really enjoyed - specifically Lucy's crossword puzzle clues that moved the story along - but for the most part, I just thought that it was an OK story. I think it would take just the right reader to love this book, and unfortunately, I'm not that reader.

It feels very reminiscent of Hallmark's Good Witch, but sightly darker/grittier.
While the story is a slow paced unpeeling of layers, it was still able to keep me intrigued as to how all the "loose ends" were connected. Towards the middle I figured out the ending and the story lagged a bit from then on.
Overall, it was ok. It was like watching the Hallmark channel..... Not the best stories, but the shows are ok in small doses when in the right mood. I wouldn't want to pick up another book by this author right away though.

This is an amazing book that fits into so many categories: Mystery, Thriller, Magical Realism, Family and more.
After the tragic death of her 8-year-old son, Jess Abbot packs up her things and heads for the small mountain town of Pine Lake. There she takes a position as caregiver to Lucy, an eccentric old woman rumored to be clairvoyant. Lucy takes in “lost “ children and help them find their “loose ends”. It all comes together quite nicely at the end of the book.

I won this in a Goodreads giveaway and really enjoyed it. The ending was so interesting how everyone tied together. It was expected at times but still a good story!!

Very enjoyable. Some good, on the edge of my seat type moments and interesting characters kept me hooked. Loved the supernatural twist.

I almost wanted the pace to go quicker but the way the story played out and the boys role in how it all ended was so good. Happy ending
