Both a delicate and explosive finale to the series, I have not quite read a series like this before. This book felt like 2 novels in one, but in all the best ways. A bittersweet ending for the characters and the series.

The story is just very all over the place. The climax in particular didn’t do much for me. Open endings should be written elegantly. This is one of those series where the open ending is so random that it doesn’t have that elegance.

Much of the writing (or translation?) unfortunately felt very contrived and pretentious, and that makes for a very ‘bumpy’ read. It’s one of those series where the content isn’t bad but the process of getting there is just so painful due to terrible writing. And that weighed heavily for me.

Not to say I didn’t appreciate anything about the Witcher books; they have some amazing characters and there’s great dry humor that comes across despite the bad translation. I simply loved the short story collections (Sword of Destiny and The Last Wish), which is why I expected to enjoy the main story just as much. But, especially from The Tower of Swallows onward, I’ve been underwhelmed.

I can only conclude that the game developers have turned an extremely cluttered book series into simply fantastic games.

A beautiful and sophisticated meditation on many issues real and fantastical, Lady of the Lake is an almost impossibly good finale to an exceptional series.

It's taken me about a year and a half to read 7 witcher books, so I feel that strange bittersweet feeling unique to reading a very long book series. Honestly I loved this. I think Tower of Swallows is overall my favorite book in the series. But this did not disappoint at all. the last 30 pages were pretty stressful, but I found the ending satisfying. as always, the writing is just...impressive. I have no other word for it.

I am SAD.

This was a great conclusion to the series.

This is a series I would happily reread in the future! The writing/translation is fantastic, the different characters and their perspectives are cleverly weaved together to make a connection with eachother, though I admit there are A LOT of character perspectives, and the plot to the whole series is fascinating and gripping.

I'll eventually read Season of Storms, which is set around the time of the first two Witcher books.
