LOVED the F1 bits, especially when the narrator's/author's opinions aligned with mine(fuck street circuits). also really fun was trying to guess which characters were inspired by real life people (jumpscare when eric whom i saw as a lewis insert was white in an insta pic).
absolutely hated the henri/luca rivalry that straight up sounded incestuous at points. ew. "Watching her in my jacket as her brother looked on in frustration, it riled something up in me." brooooo stop that shit you're weird.
i don't think there was much character development? we don't really see luca as the playboy he supposedly is like at all. but i liked how conflincts were always talked about quickly and resolved in 2 chapters at most. (<-despises miscommunication trope)

I really wanted to like this, it started out so strong and I really thought it was going to be a 5 star read. I think it might have needed some more time to bake. I love the concept, an all-female F1 team is a dream and the author has clearly watched at least some F1 - although she takes some creative liberties, which is totally fine.

I decided to DNF ultimately because the farther I got into the book the less I liked it. The spice feels forced, and is really weirdly timed in the context of their love story. There were also a lot of non-spicy scenes where I found myself getting pulled out of the story instead of pulled in. If it was shorter I might have finished it anyways, but she's a long one and it lost me.

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of A MAN'S WORLD, and let's say I really liked this book.

The fact that there is an F1 team composed only of women is a refreshing concept, and the way it was handle was beautiful.

You could really see all the double standards going on for male drivers and female drivers.

The fake dating trope was of course, to die for, as usual.

What also was a real plus to the book was the media elements in it.

All in all, I really liked A MAN'S WORLD and would definitely recommend you read it.

I got A Man’s World as an ARC copy from the author in exchange for my honest review… so here it is!

This debut F1 inspired novel is everything! Georgia is one of the few female drivers and is nickname Georgia “Sassy” Dubois because of how she handles the press (she doesn’t take crap, it’s amazing LOL) and Luca “Playboy” Rossi…. Well I be you can imagine with his nickname were he could use a little help… so in turn, these two start fake dating. The only problem with that is Georgia absolutely despises Luca as he stood her up for a date years ago and never gave her an explanation why. Oh! And to top it off…. He’s Georgia’s twin brother, Henri’s, best friend.

Once they start this act of fake dating… the lines blur.. and the real feelings start emerging.

My gosh. The enemies to lovers/fake dating is so well done and will have you hooked the entire read. ALSO if you want a new book boyfriend, Luca freaking Rossi is it my friends. The filth, the nicknames, and the love he has for Georgia is just *chefs kiss*

This novel is releasing October 6th, 2023. Get this one on your TBR’s friends!

Tropes:
•enemies to lovers
•brother’s best friend
•F1 drivers
•forced proximity
•fake dating

10/10 Pacing
We had a well written set up. The book remains interesting throughout the entire book.

8/10 Story Arc
There is a lot of behind the scenes F1 and on page racing content in this book. As a newbie to F1 (not a car enthusiast), I really was not really interested, so I scrolled passed most of these moments. It's well-written I'm sure, I personally was just not into it. All I wanted was Luca and Georgia.

8/10 Characters
We meet a few characters that I just could not get myself to be interested in, especially at the beginning. But at some point their presence is toned down a bit, and we get more of the MCs and that's all I wanted.

10/10 Inclusion of the teased tropes
The tropes came in neatly throughout the entire book. Nothing was out of place regarding the tropes. The slowburn was well done!

✨ Book Review ✨

🏁A Man's World by Grace Newman (469 pages)🏁

This was supposed to be an ARC but something happened and I'm now reviewing it 2 weeks after release 🥲
Regardless, I'm still following my ARC review "rubric" because why not 😉

⭐⭐⭐⭐:
I now know that F1 romances might not be for me (I scrolled past most of not all of them). I just could not get myself to be interested in car or racing talk. This is the sole reason why it took me this long to finish this book (6 days). Everything else is well-written, so I definitely recommend this book. We just had a lot of fillers/extra characters/F1 conversations that were not for me. Besides that, this was a great read!

🌶️🌶️🌶️:
It gets hot for sure. TV-MA is the rating I would give it if we're referring to American TV show standards. I like how the author included these scenes. They weren't repetitive, they weren't plot placeholders and they weren't dull. There was praise so I was happy that!

Grace is a talented indie author so please show your support 💙

Tropes Include:
🏎️ F1 Romance
🏁 Fake Dating
🏎️ Opposites Attract
🏁 Hate to Love
🏎️ Forced Proximity
🏁 Brother's Teammate

This is exactly what I needed! A great rep for women who are into cars/F1/racing, the entire cast of characters was so cute and they felt like the "found family" of F1. The villain of the story is an evil ex, his arc or place in the story didn't have a resolution, but maybe we'll see him in the next book (hope not, cuz he sucks). I was glad there was no 3rd act breakup (finally!). Speaking of, the romance was slow-burn and well-paced, it didn't feel rushed, it was funny, sweet and spicy, charming, and sooo adorable. I had to fight my silly smile when I was reading in public.
I'm giving it 4 stars because the writing itself wasn't as good. There was a lot of repetition of some adjectives, which some readers might find annoying. BUT I still recommend reading it. It's a debut, so I hope that future books will be better and better.
And if you want a fun and uncomplicated story to read (want to get out of a reading slump or need cheering up), this is the book for you!
