‪First coming-of-age I’ve read in a while and it didn’t disappoint. Gorgeous, subtle writing that I absolutely adored reading. The journey Violet goes through feels natural, and I enjoyed how Drake wasn’t afraid to write a main character with flaws. The relationships felt very real, especially between Violet and her brother - that actually hit quite close to home, which is what pushed this to a 5 star for me. There is a certain nuance to Drake’s writing of Violet that was so human and I can’t quite put into words how well crafted it was.

This book was pitched to me as simply a f/f book, but it was so much more than that, and it was refreshing to see a f/f romance within a coming of age novel without it having to be the central narrative. Will definitely pick up future projects from Drake. ‬

A good story about relationships between siblings, friends, and romantic partners. Tragedy leads to something good for all involved. I like the connection to the ocean and the world of shipwrecks and how
They tie into everyday life.

Dit was erg cute, erg cheesy soms, maar de broer-zus relatie erin vond ik heel mooi en het einde was (alhoewel cheesy) wel heel goed. Ik heb nog nooit het concept van Schrödinger kat zo goed begrepen haha

Overall a very comforting YA read - I love family drama, but moreover I love when there is no obvious villain (just a group of messed up people doing the best they can).

It took me a bit to get into it, but once that was done I was hooked. While a typical YA novel it was still quite interesting in the themes it explores and the story was pretty unique and enthralling. It also hit a bit too close to home when I didn't expect it to (which was nice).
Definitely a book I'd recommend as a summer read.
