My main issue with this book was that Talia took advantage of Zaal's "broken" state for selfish reasons because she was desperate to be in a relationship. She had the upper hand in their dynamic when he was still chained to the basement and even admitted lying to her brother for weeks about Zaal's state so Luka couldn't tell him where he came from. It took Zaal himself asking Talia about his past for her to do anything about it and I think that's simply unfair. And when he finds out she's the enemy he doesn't even get any real time to process that information and how that affects things with Talia.

Meanwhile, Talia had all the time in the world to make her own decisions about how she felt about him and about him being the enemy for WEEKS prior because she knew everything way before he did. It's like he finds out she's the enemy, is disgusted with her for two seconds, makes eye contact with her and all of that rage disappears instantly? Bottom line: Zaal's perspective on this issue, his family, and being with the enemy deserved more time and processing, especially considering the book has to do with HIS story. In Raze I thought Talia was level-headed and smart but this book made me dislike her.

Overall, I wasn't invested in their romance and found myself skimming through a lot of their scenes together. Not a terrible read but not a great one either.

wow…

Wow…! This was such a beautiful and moving story. Tillie Cole did such an excellent job of capturing Zaal’s point of view in a world that was completely new to him, as well as his horrific and heartbreaking memories from his captivity. Excellent read!

5+ "You are ... for me" stars

Ever since I found out about this book, I have been dreaming about getting this book in my hand. AND finally the wait was over. The second I received Reap on my kindle I dived right into it. I just knew it would be an amazing story after just reading a couple of sentences. I finished this book at 5:40AM, because I just couldnt put it down! Tillie has a way of telling a story that just consumes you. I am such an huge fan of her books. She continues to surprise me with her excellent story telling.

She is the queen of writing about damaged/broken/scarred/imperfect "heroes". I read Raze in January and I just loved it. I love mafia books, but Tillie takes it to another level. Her books are dark, romantic, RAW and so very real. She makes you feel EVERY single thing the characters are feeling.

"Zaal Kostava, you've stolen my forbidden heart."

Reap tells the story of 212/Zaal and Talia who is Luka's sister. Zaal is saved from captivity but is more beast than human. Talia is the one that gets through to him. Which was just so beautiful to read. Those first couple of scenes had me swooning so much. Zaal may be an adult but has been living in captivity as a mindless slave since the age of 8. Everything is new to him, because he doesn't remember anything. He is like a baby who is seeing, feeling and discovering everything for the first time. He is so dangerous but also innocent.

"You are my Zaal, the man whose soul has stolen mine."

He owns Talia from the first time he sees her. He is the ultimate alpha male. His flashbacks broke my heart, they had me crying so much. He has been through so much in his life. Just reading about him remembering things that happened to him really killed me. Talia and Zaal were perfect for each other.

This book was dark, real and raw. We also get a couple of chapters in Luka's POV (which I enjoyed so much!). We see that he has a lot of things he is still struggling with, which makes his character real. You can't go through the things he has gone through and be 100% happy after so little time. Thankfully he has Kisa with him, who keeps him grounded.

"Let me love you with everything I have. Let me make you feel safe, with me. Be my Luka, the boy whose soul matches mine."

There are so many lines in this book I highlighted. It was beautiful. The last part of this book has me so excited to read the next book in this series: Ravage. Tillie Cole is an automatic one-click author for me. No need to read any blurbs or descriptions!

Good second book but not as good as the first one. Nothing crazy happened. Mostly was focused on their love story instead of any outside conflict

Tillie Cole is one of my favourite authors, she made me discover dark romance and I have read the entire Hangmen series, but strangely I had never bought the Scarred Souls one. I've read Raze at the end of April and I immediately started Reap. This story is even more heart-wrenching than the first one and I still can't comprehend how Tillie Cole can write such incredible stories.
Talia Tolstaia decides to take time away from her family and the mafia life, but she didn't expect that a few days into her holiday, her brother would bring another rescued gulag fighter into her little paradise. When everyone thinks that the drugs really took his mind away, Talia will not give up on him.

I am completely in love with this whole series, and ever since meeting Talia in the first book, I wanted to know more about her. I thought this book was so beautiful and loved reading her story.
