I’m a sucker for a Colleen Hoover book. The toxicity, the romance, the spice, the heartbreak.

But part of the reason why I LOVED this one was simply because of the plot and the concept. It was so creative and something I had never seen before! Yes, there was romance, and spice, and heartbreak, but the characters were so genuinely good that I was just screaming for them to get together.

A lot of people’s negative reviews seem to pertain to Ben’s behaviour, which at points comes across as controlling and or pushy. I will say, this made me uncomfortable, because parts seemed like he completely forgot what consent was, or just ignored it completely. If you are a survivor of SA, relationship abuse, or anything related, this could be triggering to you.

But overall, I loved the book. I thought the end wrapped it up very nicely, and doesn’t just end in a “we’re all perfect and in love” kind of way. They both made mistakes, and they love each other and forgive not just each other, but themselves.

Devoured this book because it was an easy read but i feel like the conflict at the ending was resolved way too quick and maybe a bit too perfectly? even though of course i wanted it to work between them since i did love these characters so i was happy it did but it was almost too satisfying and easy. i almost wanted another year to pass before fallon met up with ben again. i also feel like her forgiveness of her dad doesn’t excuse the horrible way he spoke to her in the beginning? idk some things left me unsettled about this one.

I really liked it for the most part! It took me a good minute to get into it, but once I did I was in. I love the back and forth style of writing from both perspectives. I love how sweeping and dramatic Ben was. And I honestly didn’t think Fallon was that dramatic. Especially for the age that she played at the start of the book.

The only two things I had issues with, were how long the ending drew out, and that there is no resolve of a relationship past November 9th. Like I was anticipating a page or two or something that said December or January, or any month for that matter. Especially after having to read the manuscript, but only getting like a few pages, two maybe of happiness at the end.

The characters of the mom and dad of Fallon were a little too vague for me.

Oh my gosh. I just finished this. First off cutest story ever written. It's probably the most heartbreaking that I've read in a while. The book starts off in such an unusual way. Like, who even pretends to be someone's boyfriend without even talking to the girl? Then the pact to meet up every November 9th ugh talk about to sweet and hopeful. But then a little more than halfway through and the heartbreaking moments that are done. I was not happy and seriously wanted to be done with the book. To then have hope and be giddy to only have it crushed again. Seriously, it is a rollercoaster of emotions for this book. I recommend this book wholeheartedly to anyone looking for their next romantic book.

Wow, this book just broke my heart band mended it back together again in just a few pages! I loved this story and absolutely couldn’t stop reading it until it was done! This book was soooo gooood! Fallon was a great, well developed character and so was Ben but their story broke me to pieces. At first I thought it was about a girl learning to find confidence herself through the eyes of someone else. But as you continue to read you learn that it is so much more than that. It shocking, and devastating and raw. It makes you go through all the emotions that the charade feeling and so much more because you seeing it from a third person perspective. I book just had me going and was so good. Big props to the author for writing such a devastatingly beautiful story that will stay with me forever.

Díky společnému čtení jsem každý den mohla sledovat příběh Bena a Fallon. ❤️ CoHo knížky jsou prostě krásně napsané a já se jednoznačně hlásím k její fanouškovské základě, dle mě umí krásně čtenáře provést dějem a hlavně jdou ze stránek vyčíst emoce postav.
