Plot:

It was a bit strange but I actually liked at least the ideas behind the stories taking place in this volume. That being said I went in expecting a bit more continuity between each ‘chapter’. There was some meshing together of themes but it felt very much like a taste test of different stories with the same theme rather than one continuous plot line. I liked most of them but I think I would have preferred it to feel more cohesive.

Artwork:

This one throws me a little because none of the art was bad though some of it wasn’t a style I felt drawn toward. My biggest problem was with out incredibly different the styles were from chapter to chapter. The incredible shifts in style and even race of characters threw me completely away from the story. There were even times I had to stop focusing on the art even if I liked it because it distracted me so much from following any of the action. I really liked most of the art separately when I went back and viewed it but I don’t feel it worked well all together.

Overall:

I was so excited for this because I’ve become a big Batman fan due to my fiance. He introduced me to a lot of the super hero’s I fan girl over and I admit that anticipation may have led to some of my let down. I really enjoyed the chapters themselves and if I’d gotten any of them individually my rating would be much higher. All of them combined into one volume though felt messy and confusing and even not well thought out. I still recommend it for those who are fans of Batman and or Superman because it has great artwork and good content even if it doesn’t quite all come together well.

This was provided free from the publisher through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This in no way effected my opinion and I was compensated in no other manner.

Same, Batman. Same.

I've been in the middle of this one for a while. I started it and set it aside a couple of times, then came back to it a few days ago to finally finish it. Every time I started back up reading this I remembered why I set it aside. This just was not a good volume.

I enjoy Jae Lee's artwork immensely but I don't think it works for a title like this unless it's going to be the style the entire volume. Honestly I think I'm just more of a fan of him doing cover art though.

Thankfully I've finished but now I have to read volume 4 ... Here's hoping it's not as weird as this one was.

it's such an interesting view! and also Catwoman needs too chill and Lois Lane isn't as annoying as I expected.

I really wanted to like this series, but unfortunately the first volume was the only one worthy of more than 3 stars. The Artwork is still inconsistent in this one, but atleast we get more from Jae Lee, which is good.

I'm all for books that explore characterization and "what if" scenarios, but this one seemed a little too shallow and rushed. The villain served no other purpose than to be a deus ex machina, and the character were majorly ooc. I know that the purpose of the story was to explore what Batman and Superman would be like if they didn't remember who they were, but I don't think they reacted how those characters would actually act(for instance, why was Clark so angry, if he didn't remember anything to be angry about?).

Jae Lee's artwork and Lois Lane taking a stint as Batgirl are the only two things keeping this at a 3 rather than 2 star rating.

The last few volumes were definitely the best. They followed the story from the previous volumes whereas a couple of the other issues were standalone stories, or stories that tied in with other runs that I don't follow.

I love Jae Lee's art, but he only did one issue of the main story and the cover art. I really enjoyed the story of Superman and Batman both losing their memories and how that affects who they are.
