Ah I just adored this.

It felt like such a perfect closure to Skylar's narration and the story as a whole (Rafael's books aside, which I'm yet to read)

It did one of my favourite things, and jumped about 15 years in the future following the 3rd book. This just made the whole thing feel like one huge epilogue and it was adorable .

I could honestly read books by this author all day long. She's so poetic and paints the most beautiful pictures with words. I just adore her.

I don't want to spoil the story with it being a time jump - but it's very addictive and sweet. This series is such a must read ❤️

Must a book always have a complex plot? Is it not enough for it to simply be a novel-sized epilogue to a beloved trilogy?

What I liked:
  • Skylar and Rafael are GROWN, they are MEN, and they are starting a FAMILY.
  • Love seeing so many familiar faces and also getting some wonderful new ones like Mickey!
  • Very skilful switch-up from three books of teenage shenanigans to now being in their mid-thirties and reading exactly how you'd expect grown-up versions of them to behave.
  • Another adoption arc and this one owns my heart.

What I disliked:
  • How could you just kill off Granny like that between books... uncalled for... unforgivable...
  • The series is actually over this time, oh god, oh fuck

It was good. It was very good, obviously, as otherwise I wouldn't have rated the book 4-stars. I think I was just expecting the 5-star quality I had gotten from the previous books, and for me...that just didn't really happen.

I found it kind of jarring to suddenly be 15 years in the future. I was looking forward to seeing more of Sky and Raf's relationship develop, and the various stages they've gone through (college, marriage, building a house, family development etc), and suddenly everything has already happened, Granny has passed away, and yeah. I dunno. I was somewhat disappointed by that.

I also wanted to see more of Sky and Raf's relationship in this book, as in...more of their moments, interactions with one another, their own bubble...and whilst there were moments like that, there weren't enough for me to feel satisfied. Maybe my rating's more like a 3.75, now that I think about it.

However. I still bloody love this series, and I plan on picking up the next one as soon as I can. I adore the sense of community that is so strong throughout this series, and I honestly do love Sky and Raf's relationship...and Mickey is a great character. Oh, and finding out more about Sky's dad was very satisfying, because he is so surrounded by mystery. It was great to have some questions answered.

Overall, a solid read. I just think I let my expectations get the better of me.

So many feelings! Like damn. The time jump was big, of course, and there's so many stories and details I'd love to have filled in, but I think the story that was told was a good one.

I really hope this isn't the end of this series. I loved it. I wish there had been a book between the 3rd and this one so we could have really seen Skylar getting his voice back but seeing them together was almost as good. I would love to see more of Mickey, Skylar and Rafael in the future.

Actual rating is 3.5 stars.

Wow. 15 years after the original trilogy. That was jarring.

This was basically a three hundred page epilogue. While I loved the idea of getting a glimpse into the lives of adult Rafael and adult Skylar, it took a little while to get used to the fact that Skylar could talk. So much had changed in fifteen years (shocker, I know) and I'm still reeling.

I can't wait to write my review for this and get to delve back into my love for this series.

MARAVILLOSO!!!!
