3.95!

A massive improvement for the first bookm if you look at the first half but second half was a bit of a let down. I still see this series redeeming itself.

The drama between Cleo and Lucia was good. I hate Lucia tho and Aron and Jonas and Lyssandra (can't believe I'm saying this) and I really liked Cleo and Magnus the only character this author actually focused on.

Rebel Spring REALLY amped it up for me. I’m so pleasantly pleased and surprised with the risks and ruthless choices this book made and I’m already dying to dive right into book three.

in this book, a game of thron- oh, oh sorry. REBEL SPRING. a totally original book with totally original plot lines and characters and worldbuilding, with none of it stolen from any other significant fantasy series.

this book is a MESS. a bad mess, but also kinda a good mess too, if you read between the lines. i see the author’s vision. i see it, and i appreciate it, but she’s just not executing it the right way. the characters are flat and the worldbuilding is nonexistent, there is no plot, and again, pretty much everything is copied from a song of ice and fire. like, literally everything. she’s not even trying to hide it.

the dialogue is ABSOLUTE trash. here is one of my favorite pieces.
“Such belligerence, princess. Whatever have I done to deserve this today?”
“You’re breathing.” The words were out before she could restrain them.

that one made me throw up in my mouth a little bit

cleo is the most boring character possibly ever. magnus is all over the place. i think im supposed to be getting rhysand vibes from him, but im getting more jaime lannister. because, ya know. the whole in love with his sister thing. i will NEVER let that go. magnus, you’re disgusting

Relectura.
