This book won the Pulitzer Prize and rightly so. It is the kind of compassionate story that is so rare for Black men who are victims of police brutality to get - a retelling of his life with all its flaws and beauty. It's the story of the man who ignited the 2020 racial justice uprising and what his life really was like. In so many ways, it's a truly American story - it has football and promise, affordable housing, addiction, family, friendships, new starts, and everything in between.

Beautifully and hauntingly written. My only complaint is that the chapters are a little long (which makes it hard to have the time to sit and read if you’re the kind of person that feels the need to finish a chapter before closing the book).

Incredibly well researched and thoroughly detailed, this book is an absolutely must read for understanding the world in which George Floyd lived and died and, perhaps most importantly, who he was as a person and the legacy he leaves behind and the work still left to do towards racial justice. It's long and heavy, but it was never boring or dry or too much (although beware going into the scenes of his death, those are definitely very, very intense and probably very triggering for many people).

it was lacking a little something but it is certainly a decent biography.  I appreciated how straightforward the narrative structure was.
