This was a lot of fun, I loved how aware of itself it was while still keeping certain aspects close to the chest. I really enjoyed it!
It’s ironic because the title makes you think the same way the culprit does, that the whole family is killers, until we learn it’s all very incidental.

This is a great whodunnit. It's extremely self aware and is very strict on following the rules of murder mystery. The whole plot comes together really nicely without it being ruined by annoying things like a huge coincidence, characters that you didn't know about or magic powers. I really like the writing style and I genuinely had no idea how it was going to end. The only reason it isn't 5 stars is it didn't have me so gripped that I had to keep reading - having said that it is partially my fault because I've been very busy and had less time and motivation to read. But overall a great murder mystery and I'm for sure going to read the rest of the series

The brilliance of this book took me by surprise! I went into it knowing next to nothing about the plot. The author’s voice is distinctive, hilarious, and charming. That is why the depth of the plot, the moral exploration of killing versus murder, and the dynamic characters took me by surprise— I grossly underestimated the author’s ability to make light of an intriguing, dark, and morally grey mystery. All of the little pieces of this puzzle came together in one of the most satisfying denouements I have ever read!! Everyone In My Family Has Killed Someone kept surprising me until literally the last few minutes. I cannot wait to continue reading Benjamin Stevenson’s work, and I hope that Barton Welch continues narrating!!

Dark, witty, challenging and compelling. I co-read with the audiobook and at times I found the audiobook made things too confusing with all the details, comments and side notes the author includes in the narrative. Likewise, Ern can become annoying if you read this book in a short sitting like I did.

With that said, I found the story interesting and compelling enough to power through. And I would be interested in reading the second book in this series. Being familiar with a number of  how to write a mystery rules, there were a few things I could pick up on and guess. But it was nice to know that even if I guessed correctly about some of those things, it did not ruin the book or the overall mystery for me.

This book holds a lot of humor and it was darker than I believe I was anticipating. The big twists in the narrative were shocking but not so shocking that they were unbelievable or too superfluous. It would take a  member of this crazy family to stick through all this nonsense because if it were me, I would have gracefully bowed out.
