I listened to the audiobook which is read by the author herself. You can hear the emotion and passion on the topic in her voice.

It was an incredibly graphic and horrific book to listen to but I could not stop listening. Jess manages to make a topic that is horrendous into a book you can’t put down. Her research skills are next level and the way she tells people’s stories with respect and dignity is commendable.

I spent almost the entire time shaking my head and cringing in shame that we live in a world this horrific and that I didn’t have a clue about the extent of domestic abuse even slightly. It was eye opening and a very interesting listen. I have learnt a lot.

Engaging writing, stacked with an amazing amount of credible evidence backing just about every word. Everyone should read this, it's as simple as that.

Descriptions of abuse too difficult to continue reading at this time. Very well written book on subject matter though.

One of the best I've read but I wish books like this would use fewer and less graphic descriptions of abuse. Why Does He Do That? gives the most accurate description of living day to day with an abuser that other books forget, including See What You Made Me Do. However, this book looks at solutions more holistically and longterm than anything else I've seen. She chose to focus on exceptions of policing, but left out the 40% figure known of officers despite so much of the book citing the US.
