good battle scenes but that’s about it? thomas passes out a million times and it’s all around just very forgettable.

After The Maze Runner, which I didn't like, I didn't expect anything from this second book and I was right. The story is quite boring but I have to say that it's a little better than the previous one. The main character Thomas is useless and he never grows during the entire book. I'm going to read the third book only because I hate to leave a story before it ends.

Loved this book! James Dashner is an amazing author. He's sick and twisted, and put's his characters through hell. I'm so intrigued and can't wait to find out what's going to happen next. I can't wait for the last one.

I don't know that this is a popular opinion, but I thought this was a lot better than the first book. This series still drags things out too much without giving answers, but it felt a lot less artificial this time. The main characters had slightly less illogical motivations. It really needed more character development. If Thomas is going to continue to distance himself from everyone, it would help a lot to show the other characters interacting. Thomas kept being asleep during big scenes and getting everything summarized by one person. Despite being the second novel, I cared about even less characters. It didn't frustrate me nearly as much, so I still count it as a big improvement.

this whole book got me worried abt newt & minho all the time oml. a very great read, forced me to imagine all the scenarios they were in (which was hard sometimes as a non-english speaker). although i still did  luv the world-building on this one! it’s a great sequel to the first book & opened the world into more dangerous paths than they were in before (from being trapped in a box to exploring the outside desolate unknown). still can’t believe how cruel W.I.C.K.E.D. is to a bunch of teenagers & using them as the cure to justify their bloody crimes like how much more do u want them to suffer just to get ur results …. can’t wait to get my hands on the third book <3

Like "The Maze Runner," this story had me hooked from beginning to end. The action starts right away and there's no break until the conclusion. I didn't like some of the twists that this story took, though. Some of the things that happen are so out-there that it seemed like the author was just throwing in every weird idea he could think of for the sake of making the book stand out. The Teresa storyline, especially, didn't make sense to me. However, there's one more book so I'm going to reserve judgment until Dashner has had a chance to explain everything. And I have to admit that all of the craziness makes me anxious for the next book because I want to see how he's going to bring it all together (if he can, that is).
