Second books in a trilogy are often not as strong as the first or last book. This second book is often the bridge between the introduction of the story, and the climax. But this "middle" book was amazing! The story continues pretty much where The Maze Runner ends...the pace keeps going, as the reader you open the book and walk right back into the action of the story.

The characters continue their journey, more is learned about WICKED and what they are putting this group of young men through, as well as meeting another group that have been put through similar situations.

As these characters continue through The Scorch Trials as questions are answered, more are presented. As Thomas begins to get his memories back, as new characters provided more insight into what has gone on in the outside world, and as WICKED continues to present new challenges for these young people to overcome, the reader is right there in the middle of it, taking this journey with Thomas, Teresa, and company.

This book fell apart so quickly at the end for me. I am going to finish off the series in the hopes that it'll be fully explained in a satisfactory way, but I'm not holding my breath. By the end no one was acting in any reasonable or normal person way. Things were so random and chaotic and just didn't make any sense. Things would happen for no apparent reason and characters would just go along with it. I don't know. I am still hoping for the best.

I was intrigued at the beginning because the movie diverged so much from the second movie in interesting ways (as opposed to the first book where the movie very obviously improved upon the source material). But the end just left me wanting at every level.

A bavilo mě to.
Teda ten film zase bude o nervy!

This was a reread for me, I originally read this about 5-6 years ago and really enjoyed it, but rereading it now I definitely think I’ve just kind of grown out of the YA dystopian genre. I enjoyed the nostalgia of reading it, however, the story itself did not hook me. I think my issues with the book stem from me no longer being the target audience for it, so I gave it 3 stars instead of 2 because I do think its a great book for younger teens, and I loved it back when I read it for the first time.

Let me tell you a thing. I really don't like Teresa. Like at all. Never have. This book like to have torn my heart all. Poor Tommy. That's all I have to say about it.
