The first book in the series is the best. This one is more a 3.5 star read. The book is okay, it doesn’t delve deep enough into the psychological problems Gibson faces, and then hurried into a thriller piece that is too short lived to be worthwhile.

But it’s an engaging, quick read.

Awesome, listened to this right after Poison Feather. Got through both of them in about 4 days. Awesome.

I wanted to like this book more. It had been a long time since I read Poisonfeather, so it was hard to remember the characters and the key plot points. The author did not do a good job rehashing and reminding the reader of what had just happened.

Comes close to being as good as the debut.

While I was only ever so slightly disappointed with the ending overall the tension, urgency, and heartbreak of this novel came as close, and even sometimes surpassed, what endeared me to the first. I just blew through this whole series in about two weeks, it's just that hard to put down.

After a bit of a sophomore slump with [b:Poisonfeather|27821823|Poisonfeather (Gibson Vaughn, #2)|Matthew FitzSimmons|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1466081020s/27821823.jpg|47801998], Cold Harbor is a return to form for both [a:Matthew FitzSimmons|14126306|Matthew FitzSimmons|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1446727733p2/14126306.jpg] and his Gibson Vaughn character.

Without giving too much away, Cold Harbor picks up 18 months after the end of Poisonfeather, and Gibson Vaughn is not doing well. He just spent the last year and a half in a CIA black-site prison and he has the emotional scars to show for it.

His first job after surprisingly being released? Get revenge on the man that put him there. Throughout the book, Gibson has to deal with starting over again, searching for his ex-wife and daughter, figuring out how to exact his revenge, and taking on a new challenge working for an old foe.

Definitely read these books in order and even though Poisonfeather wasn't quite as good as [b:The Short Drop|27239265|The Short Drop (Gibson Vaughn, #1)|Matthew FitzSimmons|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1445329536s/27239265.jpg|45640572] or Cold Harbor, it's essential to reading the series as a whole.

I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review of this book.

Another great chapter in the take of Gibson Vaughn.

This is the third installment in the series and I'll definitely be reading through to the end.
Gibson Vaughn is unceremoniously dumped into the tarmac where 18 months previously, he was taken. He doesn't know why he's been released but he does now have two almost constant companions. His father, Duke and his childhood best friend, Suzanne who he called Bear. Cold Harbour follows Gibson as he tries to navigate his way back into society, but as ever, nothing is quite as easy as he would hope. Especially when he tries to visit his ex-wife and daughter only to find that not only are they gone, but so is the house. And he's being framed for arson.

After 3 books, I can't help but feel really sorry for Gibson Vaughn. If he didn't have bad luck, he'd have no luck at all. I'm not sure if I can read a 4th story in this series. What else could go wrong?

I liked it but definitely not as good as the first two of the series. The imaginary people start to get annoying after a bit.
