Fun read and peek into the job and administration to some degree. She’s a great writer.

(3.5) really interesting way to relive the Obama administration (and see the stark difference between that & Trump). Very relatable to read as the author is about my age throughout the story, navigating falling in and out of love w the wrong people, having uncertainty over career aspirations & just life in general.

I LOVED THIS BOOK! It's part coming-of-age memoir, part voyeuristic peek into the day-to-day of the White House. I will admit, I cried A LOT listening to this book. The contrasts between the president in this book and the man who currently sits in that oval, continually shook me. I am hopeful that we will find our way back to what Obama represented but being reminded that HE HAPPENED was comforting. Beck's story was equal parts relatable and OMG WHAT. It just goes to show you that even in the most insane circumstances, we are human and human nature can't be subverted. I definitely recommend this one!

This is not your average political insider book. Sure she worked in the White House, but her life was a disaster, and that's where most of the story takes place. It was infuriating and enjoyable, just know what you're getting into before you read it.

Heerlijk boek!

Delicious memoir detailing a stenographer’s career and personal life working in the Obama White House. Beck’s storytelling and imagery is amazing and her sense of humor had me cracking up every few chapters. The book was heavy on interpersonal drama, but I enjoyed all of that in between stories working and traveling with the White House bubble

4/5 stars. Made me wistful for when politics was boring. Entertaining and delightful read. Would recommend.

Could’ve gone for less focus on toxic relationships and bad decisions.. but still loved the reality of living our your late twenties while working with the president. It unexpectedly fueled my wanderlust as well!

This was an interesting read. I'm nosy and I like to know what goes on behind the scenes! I think what held me back from giving this one 4 stars is that I really didn't like Beck! (sorry!) Maybe I just didn't feel any connection or it was hard for me to relate with her story. At times, it read a little like a Jojo Moyes or Lauren Weisberger novel. That said, her experiences were very interesting and I'm glad I read it!
