Cute start to a new series. I loved Oak and Mercer and the plot neatly told us something of the world while setting up for the next book. I would have liked more relationship development between the MCs (it's definitely insta-love/fated mates, which isn't my favorite trope). Also felt like Mercer especially should have had more friends and I wish there were more interactions with the townspeople. It didn't quite capture the small-town-romance vibe that I was expecting, but I'm hoping the town gets fleshed out more as the series continues (and this was only a novella after all).
