I picked this up because of the great Daniel Dos Santos cover. Sadly, the cover is really the only good thing about this book.

I was absolutely ready to suspend my disbelief. This is a campy scifi influenced by Men in Black after all. But I couldn't get past the bad writing. The author is completely in love with her own one-liners. Once I got beyond the one-liners, the world-building was exhausting and boring. I really disliked the several large, tedious info dumps. The first third of the book (4+ hours) consisted of everyone rushing back and forth from city to city with little or no reason. Simply put, it was boring.

Narrator: Romy Nordlinger was the wrong choice. Generally she did an okay job, but her squeaky, childish voice is completely wrong for this book.

This is from my March book club book, and recommended by another member. This was a super fun book, and I can't wait to read the whole series. One of my other book club members said it was like X-Files, Men in Black and Buffy all rolled into one, and she is right! There is a fun an quirky sci-fi element that doesn't take itself or the storyline too seriously along with a kick ass protagonist with witty repartee to give Joss a run for his money. There were times where the cheese factor was a 10, but your so busy laughing that you don't care. You are thrown into the action from the very first page and it doesn't slow down.

An interesting first book, though it goes way over the top in how perfect everybody is. Also, there are way too many long passages where the characters are explaining everything to each other. Koch tries to keep it interesting, and somewhat succeeds, but there are too many times where I wished everybody would just move on.

There are definitely enough good things to give the second book a try, though.

I put this one on my TBR because the synopsis is interesting and I heard some good things, but something about aliens always makes me hesitate. Well, I was in a PNR/UF reading mood and people told me to give it a try.

I'm so glad that I did! I'm also really sad that there are so many holds on the next book!! I really want to read the next one.

This book is funny and honestly doesn't take itself too seriously. There are moments where it feels like the author was having fun writing it, and I was totally down for that. Kitty can be a little too OP when she takes command and just naturally knows what to do, which was honestly one of the only things I had a problem with... she just knew what to do every time.

It was also a bit too insta-lovey for my taste, buuuutttt I really didn't mind. Her attraction grows throughout the book, so it isn't instant and she likes him for who he is, not just his looks. A bit of a love triangle *rolls eyes* the second thing I disliked about the book. I didn't think it played well and I disliked the dude's actions towards her which she was magically supposed to understand as him liking her. Um, no. I do believe the romance will continue to get better though. I'm looking forward to it.

So, yes, I'm looking forward to reading another book involving aliens. Who would have guessed?! If you like paranormal books with romance and humorous moments, you should give this a try.

Not my usual cup of tea. It was very hard to stick with this one...it was so cheesy in the beginning.... it gets better as it goes on, but I wouldn't consider it good by any means....

A few chapters in, I thought I would really like this book. Witty banter, hot guys, smart women. Then the religion aspect hits and insta-love pops up and the plot starts to drag. The majority of this book take place over 4 days, tops, and Katherine "Kitty" Katt and her love interest Jeff Martini are talking about marriage and children and living together in the future. 4 days. This is as bad as some YA insta-love books.

And don't get me started on the slut shaming the character puts on herself. It pissed me off.

It also irked me that the A-C race is filled with super smart people, and Katherine was able to outsmart them with huge logical leaps in no time. I didn't see how she got all the information she needed to point out huge mistakes made by the A-C's.

I could go on and on about things I didn't like, but there are other reviews on here that do a better job explaining why there were a lot of problems with this book.

But, to end it on a good note, the sex scenes were by far the best thing about this book. And Katherine hanging upside down on a rope, firing a gun at a parasite. Pretty cool, too.

This was a continuous romp. Kitty didn't even know that she was genetically predisposed to be a hero until she met an alien (maybe more than one). I'm not sure why I did 4 stars rather than 5. Nothing really seriously wrong with the book.
