This is a YA retelling of [b:Emma|6969|Emma|Jane Austen|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1373627931l/6969._SY75_.jpg|3360164], and a fairly straight forward one, except for the Harriet Smith/Robert Martin storyline, which was a bit confusing. I liked the idea of Emma developing a dating app, which was a fun update to the story.

3.75 ⭐️ - super cute and nerdy retelling of Emma. Also a super easy and quick read! The characters are so easy to fall in love with and I was in tears by their cuteness by the end (I may be partial as a STEM girly though)! Also thought it was so sweet in the acknowledgments that the author noted that she wrote this book with the coding spin because her kids love to code 🥹

I really did enjoy this book it was very cute. I'm not usually a huge fan of books that are based off of famous stories. I tend to think they are overdone and not very exciting. I do have to say that this book exceeded my expectations. My father is a software developer and works in tech and so being able to read about a boy and a girl who fall in love with code and each other was very cute. This book was done very well, the writing was simple and it was just a good ol contemporary book. I'm not going to spoil the book, because that defeats the whole purpose of this review but the relationship that was presented in this book was well done. It wasn't a, girl meets boy, and they fall in love.

That's all I really have to say about this book. I highly enjoyed it and I recommend it if you need a light romance contemporary read.

Bea

Cliche and juvenile but fine. The main character is so hard to root for, but I liked George and the group of nerdy friends.

Needed a “palette cleanser” after ATYD because it was just all consuming.

Cue this quick lil romance novel. I liked the little tech-y bits in this book and the fact that it’s centered around a “code for love”. Felt a little too YA for me though.

This book was so cute and light. I actually didnt know who the girl would end up with, which was very refreshing! If you're looking for a light, cute read, this is it!

The one thing that held me back from a full 5 stars is that the main girl was a little cliche. If I described "high school girl who codes," this girl would hit all the pins. That being said, this story was still very fun!!

I received a free ebook from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review

I received this through Edelweiss.

I was really excited for this book, but the execution did not match the potential of the idea. The author relied heavily on source material, which did not allow this work to stand on its own. Emma in this version was possible autistic, which could work, had it been better integrated. Emma is known for her charisma, so by choosing to develop a character that is lacking charisma, you need to make strong strides to prove why these choices were made. The love story seemed perfunctory and at no point did I root for the pairing.
