If the book was a standalone I would say it’s enjoyable and fun and might even rate it higher. however, since this is a part of the ACOTAR universe I did not enjoy where Rhys and Feyre’s story went. This book feels too much like its own entity when in reality it’s not supposed to be since all of this started with Feyre and Rhys. I prefer them more than Nesta and Cass and feel like I’ve lost interest overall in this series.

This is by far the best of the ACOTAR series. Cassian and Nesta are my favorite couple and I love that this book is from their point of view. Cassian never keeps Nesta from doing anything, he shows her how to use her strength to fight her own demons and only steps in when needed. That is a man. One who sees the power in women and helps them to nurture it. This one was just so good!!

I feel so accomplished finally finishing this book. I've had a hard time with this series because I think I was so pulled in by the hype and just wasn't in love with it. I enjoyed my time and I can see that these are objectively great books. After finishing the last published book of this series I'm beginning to appreciate it more, I think the number of pages looming over me was a little intimidating. For this one I listened to audio for about 75% of it and read the other 25.

For this book in particular, I enjoyed having a new viewpoint with Nesta. Cassian is probably my favorite character in the series so seeing a lot more of him was also great. I liked the strong female friendship and strength themes. The mental health aspect was nice and some pieces of it were so so touching but others seemed too on the nose and maybe a little shoehorned for a fantasy book. The amount of spice was way more than I expected and I think the detail and length of the sections was a bit overkill. Overall the story was great, the growth from the characters both personally and within their relationship gave me misty eyes a time or two, and I had a good time listening and reading. However, I do think this book could have been much shorter and may have kept my attention better in the first half. I will say after finishing this one and knowing there isn't one waiting for me does make me excited for the next to come out.

Nesta’s redemption arc will never get old, this is one of my favorite stories of all time. The cast and crew did such an excellent job, I was crying at the mountaintop scene when Nesta held the line. And hot damn Cassian’s VA 🥵 you're the reason I have to wear headphones around the house! 😂 Absolutely spectacular job all around, the music, sounds, and voices were amazing.
