I admit it — I was so curious about the ominous blurb and the author's direction to read this completely blind that I abandoned my reading plans and dove right in!

This story was a unique and poignant adventure. I won't give any details because I definitely agree that this story is best experienced without any knowledge of what will happen. But I will say that it's definitely dark at times — depicting severe trauma and violence — so make sure you are in the right headspace before picking it up.

“You are terrifying and strange and beautiful, something not everyone knows how to love.” Warsan Shires’s words in my messy teenage writing says everything. That quote is my Kady.

The author's note states that the themes of this novel are "unconditional love, understanding and ultimate dedication" and this could not be more true. Yeo's steadfast and absolute love for Kadence is clear through this entire book. Despite the dark cloud hanging over them, their love absolutely warmed my heart.

I'm impressed with [a:K Webster|36526833|K Webster|https://s.gr-assets.com/assets/nophoto/user/u_50x66-632230dc9882b4352d753eedf9396530.png]'s ability to unravel a twisted story by showing and not telling. I predicted the twist shortly before it was revealed, but it didn't take away from the story at all because it was so expertly done. I had to stop and think about the earlier chapters and appreciate Webster's cleverness. This is my second read from her and I can't wait to explore her (massive) backlist!

Definitely recommend this to dark romance readers that want something refreshing, unconventional and a little twisty with an intense and tender romance.

I clicked the spoilers button to hide this review because, although there are no overt spoilers, you might catch on. You’ve been warned!

This book gets 3⭐️s for being short, easy to read, and entertaining.

I’m not sure if I’m just not in the headspace for this right now but I’m a little tired of the same “big twist”. It’s feeling overdone to me and also slightly exploitative. I’ve seen this done before and done better.

Right from the beginning I felt like this was a different writing style than K Webster normally has and I didn’t hate it. It definitely took some getting use to. I went into this book blind and knew absolutely nothing about it and I think you should, too. I can’t say much about this book without giving anything away other than the love in this book is REAL. The lengths people will go to for the one they love just makes me so emotional. Just please go into it with an open mind and know that your brain will be going the whole entire time. The way this book was written made you feel like you were living it right along with them. I grew to love all the “good” characters and even cried at the end. Like how did this book make me feel so much and be absolutely off its rocker beats me. Well done K Webster! You are the queen of making sure I stay open minded. Thank you for this 🫶

It feels unfair for me to rate this book because it was absolutely not for me. The romance does nothing for me and I found it all very cringe and cliche. The descriptions of the characters and the way they described each other was just too much.
I went in completely blind and tried not to think ahead which made me enjoy the twist a lot more. Personally I think mentioning that a book has a twist RUINS the twist even if you have 0 details about it so I tagged that aspect as a spoiler.
Go in as blind as possible for the most enjoyable experience but look into the genres to make sure this is exactly what you’re expecting it to be so you’re not disappointed like me.
