I actually thought I'd never read another book from the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, but here I am, temptation winning over because of the sight of it on sale at a local bookstore. Considering I only need one more book left for my 2014 book challenge, I had no doubts wanting to buy it. I knew it would only take a little time for me to read through this. I actually missed reading this series and I can still see myself reading the next ones, even though I still think the first books were much funnier than the last ones. I can't say I don't like reading through Greg Heffley's diary, though.

As a tween, I'd find much of this book true to reality. Greg rarely takes blame for his actions. He does quirky things like wear things that are unrealistic to school. He has a magic eight ball make his decisions for him--you can guess how that turns out. Haha. His best friend had a girlfriend through most of the book, so he was navigating new territory.

Overall the book was entertaining and I love that Greg's mom even gets some credit for being there for him.

I read these books with the kids. They are great. Looking forward to the new one in November.

Greg Heffley's life sure is tough. His best friend Rowley is now in a relationship which means that Greg no longer has someone to scout ahead for dog poop while he's walking to school or carry his bookbag when it gets too heavy. To make matters worse his mom keeps trying to help him find new friends, and her crazy family is coming for Easter. Things start to look up when he acquires a magic eight ball, and he beings grooming Fregley to take over as his new best friend. Things quickly backfire as Greg gets involved in one laugh out loud situation after another.

Another great entry in the [b:Diary of a Wimpy Kid|389627|Diary of a Wimpy Kid (Diary of a Wimpy Kid, #1)|Jeff Kinney|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1388183826s/389627.jpg|2617009] series. Greg is slowly growing up, but still retains all the traits kids love.
