I’d like to rate this at 3.5 stars. This thriller was fun and I’m glad I read it, but it had the potential to be better. First, and my biggest issue with it, the main character, Alice, made way too many dumb decisions that I felt weren’t believable. Some of her thoughts and actions didn’t make sense and weren’t what I thought someone would actually think/do. Second, once I got closer to the end, the twist became fairly predictable. I guessed at who the killer was before it was revealed, which takes the fun out of it. Even with those two issues, I still enjoyed the suspense and the plot, I just wish it had been better executed.

I was excited to get copies of the ebook and audiobook ARCs. This one threw me for a loop. I thought that I had it figured out for about the first half of the book ... It seemed really obvious what the outcome was going to be. But there were a bit more twist and turns, and you don't quite end up where you think you will. I think anybody who enjoys thrillers and will be able to get through that beginning where it feels a little too obvious, will enjoy this.

A big thanks to the author, publisher, and that galley for the ARC.

Thank you St. Martins Press & NetGalley for my advance listening copy.

Story Review:

The book had a slow start for me, but eventually it started to pick up and I became invested. I thought I had the book figured out in one area, but I was wrong so that was a nice surprise. I didn’t guess the killer either which is another good thing. I did enjoy the way everything was wrapped up in the end. This was a solid suspense story by B.A. Paris.

Audiobook Review:

I enjoyed listening to this narrator, but I would have liked more emotion towards the end of the book.

The Therapist was phenomenal! I have loved everything B A Paris has written in the past so I knew this story would be enthralling, I just did not realize how much of this story would throw me into a spiral of guessing! I absolutely loved how I could not predict anything that was going to happen! I felt this story was a slower build but wow did the ending not disappoint! The ending had me questioning I just read and lead be back to all these clues I did not put together! B A Paris does it again with her incredible writing!

Very captivating. If I hadn’t listened to it as an audiobook, I would’ve described it as a page turner! But… I still felt like there were some unanswered questions. And the ending was pretty disheartening. Ended a book with a bit of a broken heart. But! Still would read more by this author. Definitely kept me coming back for more!

I really liked this. It kept me engaged, yes, there was repetition, and I am sure many may be annoyed, but I did think Alice was somewhat strong. I didn’t figure it out. I do somewhat feel sorry for Leo and Alice.

I love B.A. Paris books and this one did not disappoint! I just knew Alice was going to be in for it when she found herself living in a gated community called The Circle. The thing is, you never know how, when or where it will happen, and thats what makes the reading fun. Read in one setting, and honestly, in this one I wasn't sure who the bad guy was and even if there was only one bad guy! Don't read alone, at night and make sure you keep your doors locked!
