The story began extremely promising and I loved reading about all of the main characters stories and motives, but some parts were extremely weird and irritating (yes I’m mainly referring to the author’s self-insert in the story) + maybe it’s just me but
Veronika surviving was disappointing and more predictable than her dying

This is one of the books I believe should be read not for the plot but for the meaning and the journey of it. It was one of the best books I have ever read and I will stand by that forever. Just like every other Paulo Coelho book, it is decorated with literary elements, symbolisms, and poetic reading that will make you fall in love with the experience of it. Even though the plot is not very unique, the relationship between characters, and the character development is so captivating that it keeps you hooked until the end of it. I thought the book actually had a pretty good ending that left me satisfied and wasn’t too dark or depressing hence the title. It is one of the books that even though I was not convinced of everything, it did not matter because it was a great read from beginning to the end was truly life changing. Not surprising in its ending or plot, but absolutely beautiful and poetic.

I would say that the book was actually pretty good, I enjoyed reading through everyone's stories and their journey in finding purpose once again. However, it was a bit hard to stay focused, but I think that it's just a me problem, because it's also not my style of book. I've read quite a lot of physiological themed fiction and I'd have to choose them over this one. Nevertheless, I think it's a book worth reading.
