I guessed who did it in the first few pages. These books are fun to read, but they aren't challenging. If you like MHC, I think this is one of her more interesting books, though. I have enjoyed one or two other Alafair Burke books and I think her influence here is noticeable and does improve the story. This book is a safe bet for people who like quick reads and it is "clean", as my mom likes to say. If you like stories similar to this, I recommend Laura Lippman and Lisa Gardner.

Ok, not bad, but not great either. I'm kinda just reading Mary Higgins Clark books out of habit at this point. None have blown me away in a long time.

Meh. I had the killer spotted about 1/3 of the way into the book, but I kept thinking, "Please don't make this person be the killer..." and indeed it was. Ugh. Still an interesting fast read, but a letdown for a book with Mary Higgins Clark's name on it (which is saying something...she's never been terribly deep).

Once again, I do this to myself.
My only two complaints are that Laurie is expected to trust Alex on his word and give up investigating his client, even though it's literally her job to do so.
But when Alex lies and tries to steer her away from the case in order to protect his client, he's just doing his job.
Additionally, "And also," is a common phrase that should in no way have indicated who the killer was.
Bonus complaint! Why didn't the general cooperate with the documentary?
However, I'll say this story followed more logically than most others in the series. I appreciate that the authors don't recycle their twists, even if the murder is usually about revenge/ jealousy.

This one may have been my favorite of the series so far. I predicted the killer right away, but not because it was obvious, just because I know how this author works so I like to make early predictions. I questioned myself many times while reading this book and I thought it finally through me for a loop I wasn't expecting, but I had the best time reading it. I also love how this series isn't one where you have to read all of the books to know what's going on. They always include enough information to keep you up-to-date but without boring readers who have been around for the last three books. Would recommend to anyone who enjoys this series or author, or who wants a good mystery novel.

Bimestre di thriller, ognuno con le proprie caratteristiche e particolarità, ma questo è quello che mi ha lasciata un po' perplessa, anche se mi è piaciuto.
In più è la prima volta che leggo qualcosa della Higgins Clark e mi ha incuriosita anche perché su Giallo pubblicizzano una serie tratta dai suoi romanzi ma che ancora non sono riuscita a vedere.
Ma torniamo a questa perplessità: è un caso già chiuso ma la protagonista è quasi del tutto assente, poche battute, poche riflessioni, pochi pensieri... poco di tutto insomma!
Però è al centro della storia, sulla bocca di tutti, tutti pronti a crederla comunque colpevole.
Ma Casey lo è veramente? Dopo tutti gli anni scontati in carcere nessuno le crede, lei che continua a definirsi innocente, che ha studiato con pazienza e meticolosità il suo caso, tanto da voler contattare una giornalista, o meglio produttrice tv, Laurie, amica intima del capo della cugina di Casey, Angela, l'unica che nei lunghi anni in carcere, le è stata vicina.
Ma cosa aveva fatto Casey? Era stata accusata e poi condannata di aver aver assassinato il suo fidanzato e futuro marito, Hunter.
Il caso viene risolto in poco tempo, sin da subito i sospetti cadono su di lei: i suoi attacchi di gelosia, le liti, tutto porta a lei. Ma Hunter aveva altri interessi, in particolar modo la gestione della Fondazione di famiglia, che aveva qualche problema...
Ed è proprio da questo che Laurie inizia ad "indagare" per preparare la trasmissione: una serie di interviste ai personaggi chiave, i principali sospettati di Casey.
Ma tra tutti questi, colpo di scena finale, che mi ha spiazzato, manca la colpevole, quella vera!
Ecco, se in tutto questo Casey fosse stata più presente, invece che scomparire per interi capitoli, sarebbe stato ancora più coinvolgente e sarebbe stata più credibile, perché la stessa Laurie che prima la crede innocente, cambia idea .... per poi ritornare indietro.
Però la storia è intrigante, piccoli colpi di scena, il team di Laurie ben affiatato e la sua ricostruzione ben fatta.
Darò un'altra opportunità a quest'autrice, anche perché vorrei vedere anche qualche episodio in tv.

Just okay. I guessed the killer from very early on. Wasn't that impressed with the book. Also, getting tired of the MHC format: perfect beautiful women with tragic pasts and the perfect rich men who love them, all living in amazing apartments in NYC. At least silk pant suits were only mentioned once or twice.

Previsível. Soube desde o prólogo quem era o assassino e até mesmo o motivo. Ainda assim, a escrita entretém.
Sinto que, no que diz respeito à série Sob Suspeita, lê-se um livro e é como se já se tivesse lido todos os outros livros. Os motivos raramente diferem, e o mesmo se pode dizer quanto aos personagens. Esta série escrita por Mary Higgins Clark e Alafair Burke parece seguir uma fórmula, o que, pessoalmente, não abona muito a favor da continuação da leitura.
